Welcome Home Vietnam Vets

Mike Taylor, Dan Martin, Dick Price, Kurt Ramsey, Jimmy Smalley, Pete Vanderlin, Mitch Louth, Dennis Patrick, Deryl Brunner, Larry Moeggenberg, Dennis Scott and Keith Mino were among the Vietnam veterans honored last Saturday at the American Legion Post.
On Saturday March 30, 2013 American Legion Post 153, St. Johns, Michigan held its first Welcome Home Vietnam Vets reunion. All vets were encouraged to attend but the main focus was on the returned and fallen ladies and gentlemen Viet Nam Vets. From the picture above you can see that the gathering was a success. Vets from St. Johns, Maple Rapids, Langsburg, Fowler, and Lansing attended.
Among the events that day were: snacks, beverages, memorabilia, a prize drawing (won by Deryl Brunner), laughter, a few sad stories, and a promise to gather again next year for an even grander event. Please watch for news next year for another Welcome Home tribute.
Sadly not all the attendees were included in the picture above. Just a few of the Vets who attended are: Mike Taylor, Kurt Ramsay, Dick Root, Deryl Brunner, Dan Martin, Ervin Currie, Tom Helms, Mitch Louth, Robby Gregory, Jonathan Pullingte, Jim Quick, Bob Paksi, Richard Price, Jimmy Smalley, Keith Mino, Dennis Scott, Larry Moeggenberg, Peter Vanderlin, and Dennis Patrick.
Its always hard to list names of those who helped, but special thanks go out to Lorie Smalley, Lynne Preister, Nancy Moeggenberg, and Jan Kelly for their contributions
