Thursday, April 25
There’s beauty hidden in that long un-opened drawer or behind the more frequently used utensils in the kitchen cabinet. And with that beauty, lies moments in family history or long forgotten stories that need retelling.
To experience the essence of those tales or a comforting return to the past, an evening of chocolate and silver may well be the channel to earlier times and Bob and Debbie Bentley are the guides conducting the tour. Their expertise in restoring new life into old, forgotten or discarded items in silver is gaining a broad following and they will be in St. Johns Thursday April 25 under the sponsorship of Clinton County Arts Council.
The Bentleys for some time now have taken unused silver items and restored new life into the pieces by reshaping them into such items as jewelry, wind charms, vases and numerous other fascinating items for gift giving, personal and practical uses.
Their artistry will be on display at the First Congregational Church from 7-9 p.m. with a captivating array of re-crafted silver. Along with sharing their collection, they invite attending guests to bring items for review and examination as to use in another life. Bob and Debbie cannot provide appraisals, but are able to suggest how an item may be used in different form.
It all takes place in the Mildred Countryman Hall of the church and the $15 entry fee not only includes an evening of silver chronicles, but a wide variety of tempting chocolate deserts. Additionally, it will be an ideal time to consider gift giving occasions or a ladies or mother-daughter night out. Whatever the consideration, guests will be treated to revealing possibilities for old silver items and an opportunity to calm an irksome sweet tooth.
As there is limited seating in the hall, pre-purchasing of tickets is strongly encouraged or reserve seating by contacting the Clinton County Arts Council at 989 224-2429 or by email ccarts@voyager.net.
