Silent Auction added to women’s golf outing

Friday, June 28
Before, during and following 18 holes of golf, players in this year’s “Gals fore Giving” golf event will be drawn to a special location at the Emerald clubhouse, an area set aside for a silent auction, designed to raise funds for Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary, sponsor of the outing. A treasure of special items will whet the ladies’ interest, including 25 or more merchant envelopes offering special services or products ranging in value from $10.00 to $75.00.

However, topping the list for this first time addition to the all-women’s outing is a pair of turquoise earrings, valued at $600.00, along with other jewelry items such as matching necklace and earring combinations and a beaded bracelet.
Other attractions include five specialty baskets containing items and gift certificates totaling $40.00 to $100.00 in value.
“We were overwhelmed by the response from local merchants and businesses,” said Shelley Gunther, co-chair of the outing. “Their generosity will make this part of the event successful, I know.”
Bidders at the auction will have an ample supply of items. Between the specialty baskets containing multiple gifts, individual pieces and itemized envelopes, over 50 choices await selection.
“The fun day at golf is the big attraction,” commented Gunther, “but the inclusion of a silent auction adds potential for an even greater fund raiser. The auxiliary has committed to $100,000.00 gift to the new emergency wing and innovation is the key to meeting that obligation.”
The outing is at the Emerald Golf Course, Friday, June 28. Four person team registrations are $300 and individuals can sign on for $75. Information regarding sponsorships or golfing registration may be secured from Shelley Gunther, 989 224 6137 or Ann Hufnagel, 989 640 0213.
