Dianna Lynn Salter
Dianna Lynn Salter, age 66, of St. Johns and Six Lakes, MI died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Saturday June 22, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating The family will receive friends on Friday June 21, 2013 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Dianna was born in St. Johns, MI on March 29, 1947, the daughter of Rolla Marshal and Dorothy Mae (Pratt) Salter. She was a State of Michigan retiree after 26 years of service. Dianna was a free-spirited, adventurous woman who loved to travel and enjoyed her family immensely.
Dianna is survived by her mother Dorothy Salter of Six Lakes, MI, 2 sisters; Kathy Salter and Debra and Jeff Barrett of St. Johns, MI, nieces; Tina (Kurt) Ziegler, Teresa (Kevin) Litwiller, Lynsey Smith, nephew Bean (Amy) Barrett, great-nieces; Jessi (Jason) Kincaid, Brandi Ziegler, Samantha Smith, Halie and Emilee Litwiller and Elli Barrett and great-nephews; Brian and Marshal Teelander, Kevin Litwiller and Cole Smith and many close friends. Dianna was preceded in death by her father, Rolla M. Salter and her dogs Max and Taco.
Memorials may be made to Capital Area Humane Society. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Johns, Michigan.
Marsha Ann Ellis
Marsha Ann Ellis, 58 died tragically at her home on Sunday, June 16, 2013. Marsha was born on September 14, 1954 in Saginaw, MI the daughter of William J. and Norma Jean (Mueller) Surdock. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1972 and on September 25, 1976 she married Nate L. Ellis in Saginaw, MI. Marsha was employed by Convergent Media Co. as a field service representative. She thoroughly loved her family and especially her grandchildren, her lawn and gardens at home and doing wood working.
Marsha is survived by her husband Nate; children, Nathaniel Ellis of St. Johns, Carolyn (Dr. Robert) Vaidya of Ann Arbor, MI and Joseph (Amy) Ellis of St. Johns; grandchildren, Halley Witchen, Jayden Ellis, Natalee Ellis and Audrey Vaidya; brothers, Robert, Ronald and James (Darlene) Surdock; sister-in-law, Gail Surdock and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother William J. Surdock.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Burial will follow at Lowe Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, 5-8 P.M. and on Thursday, June 20, 2013, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Jennie Marie Ladiski
Jennie Marie Ladiski, age 87, of Elsie, Michigan died Friday, June 14th, 2013 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, Michigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church Ovid, MI on Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 A.M., Rev. Fr. Raymond Urbanek will officiate. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI. Rosary will be prayed on 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Jennie was born in Elsie, Michigan on May 4, 1926, the daughter of Martin and Marie (Stupka) Horak. She graduated from Elsie High School. On February 16, 1946 she married Frank Stephen Ladiski in Bannister, Michigan. Frank died on September 23, 2011. She resided all of her life in the Elsie area and was a homemaker. She and Frank always had a large garden. They loved to share their garden produce with family and the community. She also collected dimes for the March of Dimes. Her family was very important to her, and she enjoyed cooking for her family. She was an avid card player and loved nothing more than to win a game of Wild Rummy. Jennie was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 Bannister, Michigan. Holy Family Altar Society and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, in Ovid, Michigan.
She is survived by a daughter, Joanne and Krystan Gromek of Athens, AL; 5 sons Robert Ladiski of Elsie, MI; Edward and Theresa Ladiski of Elsie, MI; Laurence and Patricia Ladiski of Elsie, MI; Joseph and Darla Ladiski of Elsie, MI;
Frank and Connie Ladiski of Greenville, MI; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 brother, James and Katie Horak of Owosso, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Frank, 2 children, Jimmy and Carleta, daughter in law, Joanne Ladiski, 2 sisters, Mildred Stasa, Beatrice Beldyga, brother, Joseph Horak.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church Ovid, Michigan or Hazel Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Michigan.
Alan F. Weber
Alan F. Weber passed away June 13, 2013 at the age of 78. Born July 17, 1934 in St. Johns, he was the son of Albert and Bertha (Pohl) Weber. Alan was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from Federal Mogul where he was an Industrial Engineer. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed golf.
On April 29, 1953, Alan married Patricia Smith in Wytheville, VA, where he was pitching in the Minor Leagues. Patricia preceded him in death on December 1, 2001.
Alan is survived by seven children, Shelly (Chuck) Hoffmeyer, Richard Weber, James (Denise) Weber, Diane (Ralph) Feldpausch, Susan Weber, Tom (Kelly) Weber and Cindy (Luke) Hufnagel. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, son, Michael Weber, granddaughter, Amber Rose Hufnagel and his parents.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. Burial will follow Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with the Rosary being prayed at 3 p.m. and a Scripture service held at 8 p.m., on Friday, at the Goerge Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler. Memorial donations may be made to No More Sidelines of Central Michigan or University of Michigan Mott Children’s Hospital.
