August 3 Mint City Races
Area runners and walkers hit the streets Saturday, August 3 for the Mint City Races sponsored by Sparrow Clinton Hospital with support from Playmakers.
10 Mile Race kicks off at 7:30 am, but participants are advised to arrive at the St. Johns Middle School, 900 W. Townsend, no later than 6:45 am to ensure chip registration.
The 5K run/walk begins at 8:15am. Kids Races start at 9am with the 300 meter age 5 and younger class followed by the 1 Mile age 5 and older class.
Adult runs/walks are ChampionChip®Timed. Competitive age divisions cover budding athletes younger than 25 years as well as veterans of more than 65 years.
Mint City Races are part of the Playmakers’ summer series of races.
Entry fee is $25, if registered by July 20; $30 by August 2 (noon); and $35 race day. This fee is non-refundable.
Proceeds from the Mint City Races benefit the Rails to Trails project and cross-country teams at St. Johns, DeWitt, Fowler, Ovid-Elsie and Pewamo-Westphalia schools. More than $43,000 has been donated to area teams.
