Get Connected at Briggs
Briggs Library is offering a new computer class this fall. “Making the Most of MeL” will offer training on some of the Michigan eLibrary’s most popular databases. Topics covered will include getting materials through interlibrary loan, receiving book recommendations, and utilizing homework help for all grade levels. We will also show how to access practice tests for AP classes, college entrance exams, job skills, and more. Participants can choose between two sessions of this workshop offered on Wednesday, September 18 from 10-11a.m. OR Wednesday, September 25 from 1-2p.m. A valid library card is required to attend this program, and registration begins on Wednesday, August 28.
New Adult Book Club
Starting in September, Briggs Library will be starting a second chapter of our adult book club. This new session will meet at the library for a light discussion the third Thursday of the month. We will start at 12p.m., so participants are welcome to bring a light lunch to our meetings if they would like. The title for our first meeting on Thursday, September 19 will be announced shortly. If you have any questions, please call the library at 989-224-4702.

Summer Reading Program
Kids can keep reading and come in for stickers and prizes until the end of August. Thanks to Taco Bell and Little Caesars for providing coupons for our summer program. Thanks also to the Library Friends Group for sponsoring the Potter’s Park event. There were over 150 in attendance and even though it was very warm the animals and docents did a great job. A big note of appreciation to a staff member who wishes to remain anonymous for the over 200 tasty and beautifully decorated home-made “zoo” cookies she provided. Congratulations to the last guessing contest winner of the summer, Ali Hiner who guessed exactly the right number of 71 leaves!
Adult Summer Reading Program
Congratulations to the winners of our Adult Summer Reading Program prize drawings – Donna Platte, Amy Dow, and Maureen Shank! The Briggs Library Friends Group and Potter Park Zoo generously donated each of the prizes, which included a $20 gas card, a 1-year Family Membership to Potter Park, and a Kindle Fire. Thank you to our sponsors for their support, and all of our participants who read a total of 445 books over the course of our nine-week program!
