1972 Sidewalk Sale

In 1972 the biggest event in St. Johns was the Sidewalk Sale usually held in August. Store owners marked down prices and put merchandise on tables in front of their store in order to thin their inventory. School supplies, clothing, knickknacks, and hardware items were just some of the things they sold.
Because of the Mint Festival and the fact that businesses vacated downtown for different locations, the Sidewalk Sale finally disappeared.
