Book club, Halloween and more
Adult Book Clubs
The Bookaholic book clubs will hold their last meetings of the year on Thursday, November 21. We will meet at our regularly scheduled times of 12p.m. at the library and 7:30p.m. at Bruno’s Bar, and we will be reading “Still Alice” by Lisa Genova. Alice Howland is a celebrated Harvard professor at the height of her career when she notices a forgetfulness creeping into her life. As confusion starts to cloud her thinking and her memory begins to fail her, she receives a devastating diagnosis: early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Fiercely independent, Alice struggles to maintain her lifestyle and live in the moment, even as her sense of self is being stripped away. The clubs will meet again in January, with the book title being announced and available for pick up in mid-December.
Caroling Kids
Caroling Kids at Briggs registration is now open! All kids ages 4-10 are invited to sing along at our Holiday Program as we greet Santa Claus! Practices will be Tuesdays in November (5, 12, 19 and 26) from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m. and we will perform when Santa visits the Library on Thursday, December 5 at 6:00 p.m. Sign up today!
Trick or Treat
Spooks, goblins, princesses and ghosts are welcome to fly into the Library on Halloween, Thursday Oct. 31st from 3:00-5:00 pm where they will receive a free treat.
“Department 56” Christmas Village
The Library is looking for a volunteer to set up the “Department 56” Christmas village display. If you are an interested artistic individual please contact the Library at 224-4702, stop by the circulation desk or email the Director at smorrison@briggspubliclibrary.org
Library Closures
The Library will be closed on Monday Nov. 11th in observance of the Veteran’s Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout this closure.
