Auxiliary’s fund raising spaghetti dinner
When members of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary direct their collective focus on an effort, little question remains as to the outcome. If you were among the 200 or so diners who attended the Auxiliary’s fund raising spaghetti dinner at St. Johns Big Boy November 13 you certainly sensed that focus in the form of a classic spaghetti supper, neighborly reunions and chatty camaraderie in a true Italian style.

The air of the setting was much like a homecoming or a backyard block party as diners greeted one another and shared selected Italian dishes while the treasurer of the Auxiliary smiled with glee, because proceeds from the event will be directed to meeting the pledge of $100,000 toward the new, state of the art emergency wing now under construction. It’s a five year promise and the spaghetti dinner will, most certainly be a signature item on the fund raising agenda for the term of the commitment.
Members sold over 200 tickets to the event and an additional 50 tickets were bought at the door. Angie Beals, chair of the dinner, expressed appreciation for the overall effort by members. “Everyone contributed and their efforts were reflected by the impressive turnout. Plus, the management and staff of Big Boy did an exceptional job of processing the steady stream of customers, seating all with a minimum of wait time.”
The dinner was scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., but many arrived early and a few shared pleasantries and spaghetti beyond the closing hour. “It was nice to see everyone having such a great time,” commented Ms. Beals, “along with a wonderful meal.”
The Auxiliary’s next major fund raiser is scheduled for mid-March. Arrangements are being made to present an evening of songs by an Elvis Presley impersonator. Details on that event will be forthcoming following the holiday season.
