Offer free estate planning seminar

SCH Foundation and Greenstone
Exploring the maze of opportunities available to prepare for the future and protect your family’s valuable assets can be challenging. To help farmers and family business owners make sense of all those opportunities, Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation and Greenstone Farm Credit Services will host a Farm Succession and Estate Planning Seminar in December.
This free seminar takes place Monday, Dec. 5, beginning at 5:30 pm in the Greenstone Corporate Offices at 3515 West Road in East Lansing. No fees or obligations are incurred by those who attend. Refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited to the first 90 responders.
Designed to be informative, entertaining and easy to understand, the seminar features a keynote speaker followed by presentations and discussion with a panel of legal, insurance, real estate, banking and financial professionals.
The keynote speaker is John Williams, a founding partner of GROW: The Family Business Advisors. Williams is a financial executive with an extensive background in management, mergers, acquisitions and business valuations.
Panel discussion focuses on the processes and alternatives to help families transition the ownership and management of the business; gain insight in understanding individual, family and business needs; review best practices in family communications; and develop next steps in building business succession plans.
Panel members and presenters are John Wieber, Attorney; Craig Godfrey, Certified Public Accountant; Laura Mullaney, Real Estate Professional; Kelly Tobin, Farm Finance; Daniel Matson, Attorney; Peter Shannon, Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation; Lucas Wey, Insurance Agent; and moderator Jim Nowak, Greenstone Farm Credit Services.
Farm families who attend will receive a copy of the 98-page workbook, Planning the Future of Your Farm.
