Janie Albarez
Janie Albarez, age 52, died on January 20, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 24, 1961 in Vernon, TX, the daughter of John and Ramona (Quiroz) Albarez.
She is survived by her mother, Ramona (Eugenio) Rodriguez of St. Johns, children, Rudolpho (Jodi) Albarez of Ionia, Derek Albarez of Charlotte, grandson, “the love of her life” Adrian Albarez, fiancé, Scott VanDeusen, her brothers and sisters, Lala (Rudolph) Cortez, John Albarez, Flora Garcia, Lisa (Pablo) Aguirre, Robert (Tina) Albarez, Danny Albarez, Anthony Rodriguez, Johanna Bendt and Joanna (Josh) Wedding. Janie was preceded in death by her father, John Albarez, Sr., newborn granddaughter, Alise Albarez and her sister, Mary Cortez.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Party to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. The family was served by Osgood Funeral Homes.
Mary E. Ryan
Mary E. Ryan, age 88, died January 17, 2014. She was born in Durand, MI, the daughter of Clarence and Rosetta (McLaughlin) Wiseley on November 16, 1925. She married Stanley Ryan, Jr., on April 6, 1945 and he preceded her in death on September 27, 1999. After retirement Mary and Stanley moved to Harlingen, TX, where they lived for 20 years. Mary was a member of the United Church of Ovid and the ACME Club, and she loved to golf and square dance.
Surviving are her children, Michael (Christie) Ryan of Benzonia, MI, Carol (Robert) Blair of Reese, MI, and Stanley James (Frances) Ryan of Senoia, GA, six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, brothers, Robert Wiseley, Amos (Shirley) Wiseley and David (Linda) Wiseley and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, brother, Clarence Wiseley and sister, Clara Maron.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Houghton Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Ovid with Pastor Paul Damkoehler officiating, burial to follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Contributions may be made in Mary’s name to the United Church of Ovid.

Theresa Ann Fabus
Theresa Ann Fabus, age 45, of Ovid, MI passed away Saturday, January 18th, 2014 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Lansing, MI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Rick Bokinskie officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. There will be a Parish Scripture Service held at 7:00 P.M. Monday evening at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI.
Theresa was born in Alma, Michigan on December 12, 1968, the daughter of James J. and Ruth and the late Marcella Ann (Sefl) Fabus. She graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1987. She attended Alma College and Lansing Community College.
Theresa was a newspaper writer and had worked for the Weekly as a sports writer for many years. Theresa enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and was an avid sports fan, specifically rooting for the MSU Spartans. Theresa had a special connection with children of all ages and spent a lifetime gathering close friends which she considered family. She resided most of her life in the Ashley and Ovid areas. She was a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Bannister, MI.
Theresa is survived by her partner, Traci Gulick of Ovid, MI; parents Jim and Ruth Fabus of Ashley, MI; 2 sisters, Annmarie and Sean Asiala of Ft. Wayne, IN; Kristen and Jerry Stempien of Livonia, MI; 2 brothers James and Sarah Fabus of Ashley, MI; Kevin and Michelle Fabus of East Lansing, MI; Traci’s parents Terry and Peggy Gulick of Ovid, MI; sister and brother in law Dan and Terri Morris of Ovid, MI; sister Amie Oberlitner of Dewitt, MI; brother David Oberlitner of Alma, MI. Theresa is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was predeceased by her mother and her grandparents. Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan or Ele’s Place.

Elma O. Parr
Elma O. Parr, 90 went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital. Elma was born on September 2, 1923 in St. Johns the daughter of Frank L. and Dora (Hall) Estes. She graduated from Rodney B. Wilson High School in 1941 and on April 9, 1944 she married Raymond Parr in St. Johns. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2012. Elma was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, worked on the St. Johns Election Committee, was a Gray Lady at Clinton Memorial Hospital, was a member of Clinton County Arts Council and had worked with her husband at Parr’s Pharmacy for many years.
She is survived by her son James (Linda) Parr of St. Johns, daughters, Barbara (Rodger) Bittner of St. Joseph, MI and Marcia (John) Richmond of Canadian Lakes, MI; grandchildren, Stephen and Andrew Bittner, David Patterson, Elizabeth Wrigglesworth, Kristina Kinde, Stephanie Levesque, Michael Parr and 13 great grandchildren; brother, Sonny (Olney) Estes of St. Johns and sister, Mary Turk of California. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas, her parents, husband and sister Willene Gutshall.
Funeral services will be held atKeck-Coleman Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Tim Knaus officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Grace Haven Assisted Living Center.
Thelma I. Joslen
Thelma I. Joslen, 91 of St. Johns, MI died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Hazel Findlay County Manor. Thelma was born on February 18, 1922 the daughter of Ernest and Flora (Sparks) Schaefer. She had worked as an account manager for Avon for several years. Thelma was a member of Shepardsville United Methodist Church and had serves on the Ladies Auxiliary as president and had delivered meals for Meals-On-Wheels. She especially enjoyed attending Jamboree with her brother Harold and his wife Betty.
Thelma is survived by her children, Dale (Annette) Devereaux and Darlene Devereaux both of St. Johns.
Grandchildren, Greg Harris, Donald (Sharon) Harris, Corey Devereaux, Stacey (Brenden) Stephenson and Tyler (Ranee Makara) Devereaux and 5 great grandchildren. Thelma was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Devereaux and Cecil Joslen, daughter Dolores Harris and brothers Henry Wood and Harold Schaefer.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Judy Hazel officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Monday, January 20, 2014, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorials may be given to Meals-On-Wheels or Sparrow Hospice.
Lonny Devereaux
Lonny Devereaux, of St. Johns, died January 17, 2014 at the age of 66. The son of Mahlon and Joan (Salisbury) Devereaux, he was born February 12, 1947. Lonny retired from Motor Wheel after 31 years of service. He married Kay Kobylarz in 1977 and she survives him.
Also surviving are his children; Brian (Brooke) Devereaux of DeWitt, Timothy (Sonya) Devereaux of Maple Rapids, Amy (Bob) McCain of DeWitt; brothers, Lance “Hezzie” (Laura) Devereaux and David “Crockett” (Bonnie) Devereaux; many grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Lonny was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Devereaux.
A private burial will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
