Upcoming Winter Recreation Classes

CPR and much more
The City of St. Johns Recreation Department, in conjunction with Clinton Area CPR and EMS Academy are offering a CPR Class. The hour and a half to two hour class will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Class will be held at the Clinton County Courthouse First floor-Conference Room C. This class is great for anyone wanting to learn CPR. Cost for the class is $35.00 for lay persons for CPR only, $45 for First Aid and CPR, and $20 youth (10-18 years old). Bring your payment and register at the City Offices by February 11, 2014 to ensure your spot as classes tend to fill up.
Starting now and going thru March 31, 2014, open gym (volleyball and basketball) for those 18 and older, will be held on Monday and Thursday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the St. Johns Middle School Gymnasiums. There is no open gym on January 20, January 23, February 13, March 13 or 20, 2014. The cost is $4.00 per person per night. Open Gym cards can be purchased at the City Offices for $20 and are good for 6 visits.
Beginning on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. a new session of Bootcamp will begin with ACE certified personal trainer, Shawna Foerster at Gateway North Elementary. This 5-week class alternates strength-training exercises with aerobic activities to give you two workouts in one. Increase your strength, endurance and tone up with Boot Camp. The cost for the session is $25 per session for City Residents and $32.50 for non-City Resident. Drop-in rates are $7 for City Residents and $8 for non-City Residents per class.
On Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. a new session of Yoga Basics will begin with instructor Melinda Geiger at the Wilson Center. This 6-week yoga session will begin with basic breath and posture geared toward helping those who have never done yoga learn the absolute beginnings in order to develop their own yoga practice to use at home. The cost for the session is $45 for city residents and $55 for non-city residents. Drop-in rates are $9 city residents and $11 non-city residents per class.
Also, starting on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. a new session of Zumba will begin with instructor Sara Thelen at Gateway North Elementary. Zumba program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. The cost for the session is $20 for city residents and $25 for non-city residents. Drop-in rates are $6 city residents and $7 non-city residents per class.
