With an album by Maralyn Fink Woodbury
It has been awhile since I have roamed the halls of St Johns High School due to things that have happened in my personal life. I decided to take my camera and head for the old halls to see what I could find.
I met Jason Gnegy, the Student Council Advisor, and we headed to the gym where the blood drive was taking place.
I met with Matthew Boak from the student council who guided me through the process.
This blood drive started with the planning in February and is a yearly event. Asking about any permit having to be signed, Matthew said that this was open to 16 or older students but that the 16 year old students did have to have a permission slip. After the sign up time a list of time slots is posted in Mr. Gnegy’s room for their choice of time they would like to donate.
Set-up for the drive starts at 6 am in the school gym, with the drive itself starts at 8 am. A year ago they had 120 donors, and it was one of the largest in St. Johns. They hope to exceed that this year.
I concluded my job after spotting the cookies and managed to have one, so I was in 7th heaven.
How about something to think about for next year kids – a Blood Drive challenge with students versus faculty?
