June 20th
After handing Sparrow Clinton COO Kevin Price a check for $10,000.00 recently, members of Sparrow Clinton Hospital Auxiliary jumped right into their next fund raising event on their march to paying off a $100,000.00 pledge toward the new emergency wing planned for opening early summer. It’s the seventh annual all women’s golf outing “Gals Fore Giving” and if past is prologue, this year’s version should set a new par.
Shelley Gunther, chair of the June 20th tourney, agreed that “It’s good to have twenty thousand paid, but we can’t slack off. Our all-ladies scramble has become an increasingly important agenda item and we have become increasingly reliant on it as a funding source. Especially with a pledge balance of eighty thou outstanding!”
One of the early signees was Jan Havlik, third from left, a participant from previous outings, who joined Auxilians, from left, Shelley Gunther, Robin Ingalls and Carey Harris in promoting the date.
As in previous years, traditional features of the event return, including breakfast, lunch at the turn, a day’s end buffet and a host of individual prizes. A silent auction and Mulligans for purchase will help stuff the Auxiliary treasury.
The excitement begins with an 8 a.m. registration and practice, leading up to a 9 a.m. shotgun tee-off. Entry fee is $300.00 per 4-woman team or $75 per individual. Either registration should be submitted by Friday June 13 along with entry fee. Make checks payable to SCHA and mailed to SCHA Auxiliary, 805 S. Oakland St., St. Johns, MI 48879.
