Arlene Scramlin
Arlene Scramlin, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital St. Lawrence Campus in Lansing, surrounded by her loving family. Arlene was born Nov. 28, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, daughter of the late Loney and Leona (Pease) Haney. She graduated from Shepherd High School and held a Bachelor’s degree in Business and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University. Arlene married Richard “Lee” Scramlin on August 28, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant.
She worked as a Business and Typing teacher and later as a High School Counselor at St. Johns High School. Arlene was a compassionate and caring mother, wife, aunt, and friend. Nothing gave Arlene more joy than finding ways to help others. She is known for her “Big Heart” and never needing any thanks or acknowledgment for her work. Just the thought of helping others was all the thanks she needed.
Arlene is survived by her loving family: husband, Lee; daughters, Renee’ (Glenn) Perry of Haslett, and Dr. Judi (Dr. Mark) Jones, of Ypsilanti; grandchildren, Rachael and Sarah Jones; niece, Connie (Russ) Lapham of Perrinton and many more nieces and nephews; and sister, Donna Mae (Jerry) Nelson of Martin, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Ruth Vanacker and Richard Haney.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, June 21, at 12 p.m. at Lux Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with the Pastor Larry Wonsey of Coomer United Methodist Church officiating. A luncheon will follow at Lux Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday June 21. Memorials may be made to Coomer United Methodist Church, 7655 W. Blanchard Rd. Blanchard, MI 49310. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Leonard A. Puetz
Leonard A. Puetz, 84 years old of rural Waterloo, IA died Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo. A time for public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Monday, June 9, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA. Inurnment will be at a later date in Michigan. Memorials will be directed to the Cedar Valley Hospice and other charities.
Leonard Alan Puetz was born November 14, 1929 in St. Johns, Michigan, the son of Donald L. Puetz and Elsie Marian (Rice) Puetz. He graduated from St. Johns High School with the class of 1947. On August 20, 1950, he was united in marriage to Nancy JoAnn Black in St. Johns, MI. They made their home on a farm there and raised their family. Leonard was a farmer raising crops and livestock. Following retirement they moved to their present home near Gilbertville, IA. In St. Johns Leonard served on the school and Co-op boards. He was instrumental in the building of the Hazel Findlay Country Manor and a member of the First United Methodist Church. After relocating to Iowa, he and Nancy became active at the First United Methodist Church in Jesup, IA.
Mr. Puetz is survived by his wife Nancy of rural Waterloo, IA; one son, Craig (Kendra) Puetz of Waterloo, IA; one daughter, Alice “Allie” (Kevin) Irwin of Chatham, New Jersey; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Neil Douglas Puetz in 2006 and Brian Lee Puetz in 1999; also, one granddaughter, Molly; one great granddaughter, Hailey; and one brother, David Puetz.
White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements.
James Allen Moore, Jr.
James Allen Moore, Jr., 57, served his last customer on May 31st, 2014 in Winnemucca, NV after a brief illness. Jamie was preceded in death by his parents James Allen and Betty Dettling Moore.
Jamie is survived by his brothers Paul of Mayville, MI., Peter of Ocala, FL, Christopher of NV., and sister Anne of Denver, CO.
Jamie lived a very active and full life. In his later years he embraced, loved and BSd Winnemucca’s people, quirks, trials and tribulations.
He truly did. If anything were to be said about Jamie, he did it his way. Always.

There will be a memorial gathering at 7 p.m. Saturday at Butch Cassidy’s, Winnemucca, NV. The family was served by Albertson Funeral Home in Winnemucca.
