Reader recalls move to a new house
When my parents informed my sisters and I that they were moving, I remember feeling an almost panic.
The house I grew up in held so many fond memories for us all. It is the only house I knew up to that point. My children felt the same way. “How could they?!”
They told us that they were buying the house next door to them. They had always admired that house. It is a bit smaller, the master bedroom is on the main floor, a little less lawn to keep up, to name a few ‘selling’ points.
I remember the couple that lived there when I was very young, Rolly and Florence Benson. They were so friendly. They even let my sisters and me pick a few flowers for our mom’s birthday once.
After the initial shock and time to let the news soak in, moving didn’t seem so bad. It felt like home immediately.

This house is located on 207 E. McConnell St. My parents, Bill and Charlene Brown, live there. They have lived there over 10 years and we have created many memories in this ‘new’ house.
