Fall session
Applications are currently being accepted for those who are interested in serving as a CASA Volunteer Advocate.
Service as a CASA Volunteer Advocate includes:
– Adequate time to visit appointed child(ren) every 7 to 10 days
– Participate in monthly CASA Advocate meetings
– Regular communication with CASA staff
– Access to computer for e-mail and court reporting
– Complete a court report and attend court hearings (approximately every 90 days)
The following are the requirements to become a CASA Advocate:
– Participate in pre and post training interviews
– Pass a criminal and personnel background check
– Fully participate in 30 hours of pre-service training
– Participate in court observations of child abuse or neglect cases
– Good communication skills to work with community partners including Department of Human Services, the court, attorneys, and other resources
