The Clinton County Arts Council sponsored the 2014 Middle School Art Challenge which was open to all of the County’s middle schools. Participating this year, were schools from DeWitt, Fowler, and Pewamo/Westphalia. Each school created posters promoting their schools’ fine-arts programs.
The first through third place awards were based on their artistic content and were judged by a local artist for their design and clarity of message.
The posters were then displayed at several County festivals this summer. The public was invited to vote for their favorite poster at the festivals as well as online.
The 2014 Art Challenge resulted in the Arts Council awarding $1,350 to the schools’ art programs. Awards were presented on October 9th at the St. Johns Depot. Funding for the Art Challenge was made possible from support from local businesses, organizations and Arts Council members.
