Granted $700 checks from Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation
Clinton County Great Start Director Karen Black (left) and St. Johns Public Schools Health Officer Karla Palmer each received $700 checks from Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation Director Pete Shannon at the fall quarterly meeting of the Clinton County Healthy Community Coalition.

Since 2010, the SCH Foundation has helped organize and lead a county-wide obesity prevention initiative. Early efforts focused on increasing awareness.
Current efforts focus on assisting existing resources that offer healthy lifestyle opportunities for children and families. Overweight children are more likely to become overweight adults with an increased risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and high blood pressure.
A total of six $700 checks have been presented to school districts in Clinton County, encouraging healthy eating and improved physical activity.
