Girl Scouts host fall recruitment

Thursday, November 6
Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan will host a fall recruitment event on Thursday, November 6, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the St. Joseph School Cafeteria/Social Hall. This is for Saint Johns’ area girls and adults interested in joining Girl Scouts.
Girls in kindergarten through high school are invited to attend the event with their parents or guardians to learn more about Girl Scouting and to register for this year (October 1st – September 30th, 2015).
In order to form troops for girls who register for Girl Scouting, the area also needs to recruit adults who are willing to serve as leaders.
Kaci Benson, Saint Johns area manager and troop leader, said she stepped out of her comfort zone four years ago when she agreed to lead her daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
Last year Benson put even more distance between her and her comfort zone when she became an Area Manager for the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan in St. Johns. In this volunteer role, Benson provides support and advice to the leaders of 57 girls who are members of troops in the area.
“There’s a lot of potential and I know we could have great growth here,” Benson said. “We have leaders who are committed to growing Girl Scouting in the St. Johns area.”
Here’s what your girl gains when she joins Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan:
