A chapter book selected by staff will be shared over the course of 4 weeks. Sign up for Thursday evenings, February 26 – March 19, 7-7:45 pm. Registration is required and opens on Thursday, January 29th.
Bookaholics
The Bookaholics Book Club will be reading Peter Graham’s Anne Perry and the Murder of the Century. This is the true story of the 1954 murder of a woman by two teenage girls — her daughter, Pauline, and Pauline’s best friend, Juliet – better known today as mystery writer Anne Perry. Graham has created a comprehensive, well-researched examination of the crime and its aftermath, as well as the killer’s lives, from childhood to the present day that is as engrossing as it is chilling. Copies of the book are now available at the Circulation Desk. The clubs will meet on Thursday, February 19 at noon at the library, or at 7:30pm at Bruno’s Bar.
Briggsflix
The Briggsflix Movie Club returns this month with a showing of Gosford Park. The movie, directed by Robert Altman and written by Julian Fellowes (the creator and writer of Downton Abbey) showcases an impressive cast, led by Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, and Helen Mirren. Set in the 1930s, the story follows a group of guests and their servants as they gather for a party at an English country house. When their host is found dead, it appears that everyone, upstairs and below, has secrets, but is one a motive for murder? Come find out when we screen this movie for free on Tuesday, January 27 at 6:30pm. Rated R, 137 minutes.
