Seat Belts Save Campaign in National Top Five

SADD at St. Johns High School
St. Johns High School’s Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) learned earlier this month that it is a top five finalist in the National Seat Belts Save Challenge. The student group ran the campaign in late fall and worked in collaboration with the St. Johns Police Department.
As part of the national challenge, seat belt checks were conducted at the school in conjunction with an educational element to demonstrate the dangers of driving without a seat belt. Students posted on social media, signed pledges and utilized creative avenues to share their message: Seat Belts Save.
SADD put together fun activities for the student body to help them learn about Seat Belt Safety, like Seat Belt Selfies and Seat Belt Seminar Challenges.
St. Johns High School’s submission is one of five submissions for best campaign currently being reviewed by the national judges.
St. Johns High School is also a finalist in the greatest improvement in the seat belt use rate category.
The Seat Belts Saves, National Organization for Youth Safety, plan to announce the winners in the three categories – best overall campaign, highest seat belt use rate and greatest improvement in seat belt use in early March before the launch of the Spring Seat Belts Save Challenge.
