Senior Center Activities

March, 2015
If you have never been, March would be a great time to come to the Clinton County Senior Center for the first time. The center is located at 201 E Walker Street in St. Johns and is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday between 9 am and 3 pm. Here are some of the things going on this month:
Euchre Tournaments / Trivia
On March 9, 23 and 30 the Euchre Tournaments will be held from 1-3 pm. If you eat lunch at the center before cards the tournament is only $1. If you come just for the tournament it is $2. On March 16 the Euchre Tournament will be held in the evening from 6:30-8:30 and everyone pays $2. On Mar 16 there will be a Trivia Contest from 1-3 – there is no cost to participate.
Bingo
Bingo will be held every Tuesday and Friday at 12:30 pm. The cost is only $1 and every player will walk away with 3-4 items. If you don’t play Bingo but would like to help out, you can become a Bingo Buddy and help one of the members that has difficulty playing on their own.
Monday Fundraising Lunch
Every Monday volunteers come in and cook a complete meal. This lunch is open to anyone of any age. The cost is only $5 for the full meal or $3 for a sandwich and chips. Meals in March include: Mar 9)Chicken Alfredo, Mar 16) Unstuffed Cabbage Casserole, Mar 23)Ham and Scalloped Potatoes and Mar 30)Lasagna. Homemade pie is also available for only $1.50 a slice. Monday meals are served between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. Take outs are also available.
Senior Meals
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday a nutritional meal is served at Noon for senior citizens. The meals are available for a suggested $3 donation. If you cannot afford the $3, you are not required to pay.
March Madness
On Wednesday, March 18 the center will hold its own March Madness event from 10 am to 3 pm. The day will include games, contests, lunch and a Euchre Tournament. The cost is only $3 and an RSVP must be made by Monday, March 16.
In addition to these activities senior citizens are always welcome to come in to use the Exercise Room, work on a puzzle, play other card or board games or just to socialize.
If you don’t think you are old enough for the center, but want to support them in some way, come and check out all the great things they have in their 2 gift shops. The gift shops are open the hours the center is open. Or consider donating something they could use to make items for the gift shops. They currently could use fabric to make walker bags and quilt batting and stuffing for pet blankets, pillows and quilts.
If you have any questions about the Senior Center stop in or give them a call at 989-224-4257.
