Charles G. Berkhousen
berkhousen_charlesCharles G. Berkhousen, 89 of St. Johns, MI died on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Hazel Findlay Country Manor. Charles was born on July 19, 1925 in Clinton County the son of Charles G. and Hazel (Smith) Berkhousen. He graduated from Maple Rapids High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 until 1945. He was a POW for 5 months of that time.
On October 27, 1945 he married Norma I. Ayers in St. Johns. Charles worked at General Motors as a sheet metal worker for 33 years and retired in 1982. He served as custodian at First Church of God for 25 years, was a member of the V.F.W., First Church of God, U.A.W. #652 and he enjoyed collecting antiques, doing carpenter work and enjoyed working on the Avenue of Flags at Mt. Rest Cemetery.
Charles is survived by his wife Norma, daughter Sharon (David) Miller both of St. Johns; grandchildren, Chuck Miller and Todd Miller (Jolyn Miller) both of St. Johns.; great grandchildren, Jordan, Austin, Josh, Kendall and Christian. He was preceded in death by his 4 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Christopher Bones officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. St. Johns Honor Guard will conduct a military salute to Charles. Brian Lee Sievert
sievert_brianBrian Lee Sievert of Perrinton, MI died February 26, 2015 at the age of 69. Born March 6, 1945 to Reo and Mary (Elliott) Sievert, Brian was a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. He married Pamela Mahar Sievert in St. Johns on October 26, 1968 and she survives him.
Also surviving are his sons; Matthew Sievert of Farmington Hills, MI, Aaron (Laurie) Sievert of St. Louis, MO, Jeff (Gina) Sievert of Philadelphia, PA; his mother, Mary Sievert; four grandchildren, Domenic, Aevri, Haedyn, and Alyssa Sievert; sisters, Ann (Eldon) Whitford and Kay (David) Aughton; and many nieces and nephews. Brian was preceded in death by his father, Reo Sievert.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at the Osgood Funeral Home, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns with Pastor Bill Dye officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, March 2, 2015 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Michelle L. Boog
boog_michelleMichelle L. Boog passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the age of 24 after a courageous four-year battle with brain cancer. She was born July 30, 1990 in Lansing, MI the daughter of Gregory and Delane (Larner) Boog. Michelle was an active member of the Class of 2009 at St. Johns High School where she was vice-president of the student council, played volleyball and softball and was a member of the National Honor Society. Michelle was currently attending Central Michigan University pursuing her calling to be a Special Education teacher. Every semester at CMU, Michelle made the Dean’s list as well as the President’s list, despite losing 50 percent of her vision to a stroke early in her battle. She was a member of the Student Michigan Education Association (SMEA) and was active in Relay for Life. Michelle enjoyed shopping (especially Thrift stores), and collecting all things elephant-related.
Surviving are her parents, Greg and Delane Boog; three brothers, Nicholas Boog, Mitchell (Stevie) Boog and Spencer Boog; fiancé, Peter Maniez Jr.; grandparents, Deanne Larner and Doyle (Jane) Larner, future parents-in-law, Peter Sr. and Margaret Maniez and many aunts, uncles, cousins and her Be-Bop Crew. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Doug (Boo) Larner, cousin Chad Henderson, and grandparents, Ernest and Martha (Granny) Boog.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Sparrow Clinton Cancer Center (special thanks to Traci Glanz), Henry Ford Hospital, Sparrow Hospice (especially Susan Smith), the employees of Oakview Elementary School, the United States Postal Service, The Fields Golf Course, Bruno’s Bar, Central Michigan University (Fire Up Chips) and the surrounding community, and all the family, friends, and strangers who showered us with gracious and amazing kindness. We cannot thank enough Brianna and Chris Bates, Tyler and Peg Throop, and CJ Jorae.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday and 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
