Wood Ducks are tree cavity nesters. With the decline of natural tree cavities near and adjacent to wetlands, a conservation program was developed to utilize nest boxes to provide Wood Ducks adequate nesting sites. This program has been used across the nesting range of these waterfowl. It has had a significant impact on increasing the population of Wood Ducks.
