Frank J. Bailey

bailey_frankFrank J. Bailey died Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the age of 93. He was born June 3, 1922 in Ionia, MI the son of Joseph and Vivia (Worthy) Bailey. Frank was an Army veteran of WWII, a member of the Nazarene Church and a retired Motor Wheel employee. On October 24, 1947 he married Ruth Holcomb and she preceded him in death in 1998.

Surviving is a son, Ralph (Jennifer) Bailey; one grandson Jeff Bailey all of St. Johns; one sister, Olga Dann of Mancelona. He was also predeceased by a son, LaVerne and Frank’s twin sister, Frances Bailey.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with Pastor Tim Diller officiating. Military honors will be provided by the St. Johns Honor Guard. The family will receive relatives and friends 2:00 to 4:00 an d 6:00 to 8:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the funeral home.


Robert James Wilcox

wilcox_robertRobert James Wilcox, age 86, of Ovid, MI died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Shepardsville United Methodist Church, 6990 Winfield Road, Ovid, Michigan 48866 on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. There will be visitation held from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.

Robert was born in Hastings, Michigan on January 3, 1929, the son of Earl and Bernice Wilcox. He married Margie Wilcox on November 29, 1952 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Bob farmed a centennial farm in Hastings, MI and moved to Ovid, MI in 1957 and became a dairy farmer. He was a seed corn dealer and enjoyed buying and selling antiques. Bob was an outgoing and happy individual. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his daughters; Colleen and Patricia, son Kevin, son in law Mark, daughter in law Jenny, 5 grandchildren; Michael, Bridgette, Wyatt, Norah and John. He was preceded in death by his wife Margie and brother Keith Wilcox.

Memorials may be made to Shepardsville United Methodist Church. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, Michigan.


Ruth E. Parks

parks_ruthRuth E. Parks passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the age of 88. She was born April 22, 1927 in Bronson, MI the daughter of Orlo and Seba Strong. Ruth was a homemaker and a business partner with her husband Darwin. She and Darwin were married January 12, 1946 in Coldwater, MI.

Surviving is her husband, Darwin; her children, Howard (Diane) Parks of DeWitt, Janice (Gary) Kolk of Ionia, Douglas Parks of St. Johns, twins Jessica (David) Leathers of Dimondale and Juliane (David) Bakos of Oxford, MI.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family was assisted with these arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns.


Mary Beth Henning

henning_marybethMary Beth Henning, of St. Johns, died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the age of 81. Born September 26, 1933, she was the daughter of Carson and Eva (Matthews) Shinabery. Mary Beth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. On June 8, 1957 she married Dale L. Henning and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Surviving are her children Linda (Kevin) Whitbeck of DeWitt, Lori (David) Gantz of Greenville, Mike Henning of Elsie, Lisa Rushin of Alma, Mark Henning of St. Johns, Leslie (Robert) Zache of Niles; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, Kent (Joyce) Shinabery, Robert (Sue) Shinabery; sister-in-law, Chris Shinabery; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Mary Beth was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Max Shinabery.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns with Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday, June 15 and 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday, June 16 at Osgood Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be prayed at 7 PM Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary Beth’s name to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, 1210 W. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48915.

Audrey Jean Schepler

schepler_audreyAudrey Jean Schepler, age 64, of St. Johns, MI passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, MI on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Keith Whipple officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 A.M until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Audrey was born in Rogers City, Michigan on August 19, 1950, the daughter of John and Hazel (Richardson) Gordon. She graduated from Rogers City High School with the class of 1969. She married Mark Schepler on August 21, 1971 in Rogers City, MI.

Audrey enjoyed playing piano and traveling especially to their family cottage at Lake May. She loved cooking, baking and golfing. Her family and grandchildren were her passion. She was a member of Eureka Christian Church, Women’s Fellowship and also the secretary. Audrey was also a secretary at Dr. McDonald’s office in St. John’s for many years.

She is survived by her husband Mark Schepler, her children; Stacey and Dana Jones, Mark II and Jenifer Schepler, Eric and Tiffany Schepler, Megan and Aaron Lomonaco, grandchildren; Whitney and Matt Knoll, Dylan Jones, Zackary, Madison and Abbygail Schepler, Hayden and Harper Schepler, great grandchildren Emma and James Knoll and sister Ruthella and George Deane. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in law Margaret and Robert Schepler and her sister Linda Wyant.

Peter William Klein

klein_peterPeter William Klein, age 89, of St. Johns, MI passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Sparrow Health Systems, Lansing, Michigan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, Michigan with Rev. Fr. John P. Klein and Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Sunday June 14, 2015 from 1-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Johns, Michigan. Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 P.M. and a scripture service will be held at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Peter was born in Fowler, Michigan on May 22, 1926, the son of Peter and Leonora (Smith) Klein. He graduated from Fowler High School. Peter married Margaret Mary Caudy on April 23, 1960 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, Michigan.

Peter enjoyed farming; raising cattle, pigs, sheep, chickens and playing with the barn cats. He loved attending fiddlers jamboree and traveling in his car throughout Michigan. Some of his fondest memories were growing up with his siblings on the family farm outside Fowler. Peter also enjoyed keeping up with his family genealogy. He enjoyed talking to his neighbors; especially the friendship he had with Stanley and Ila Whitlock and their family. He was a big Detroit Tiger’s fan. He retired from the Clinton County Road Commission. Peter served his country in the United States Army during peace times in Japan. He was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and was an usher.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Mary Klein, children; Patrick J. Klein, Peter P. (Andrea) Klein, Margaret Mary (Daniel) Jorae, Francis J. (Patricia) Klein and Stephen R. (LaTisha) Klein, nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, sisters; Monica Pung and Theresa Thelen, sisters-in-law; Doris Klein, Carolyn Klein, and Theresa VanWormer and brother-in-law Joseph Caudy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and Godchildren; Luke Peter Schafer, Paul Peter Klein, Terese Klein Sleep, Susan Pung LeDuc and Julie Thelen Pohl. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Annabel (Louis) Schafer, Mary Elizabeth “Bets” (Jerome) Schafer, John (Mary) Klein, Paul Klein, Charles Klein, Lawrence Klein, Phillip Klein and Godson James “Jake” Klein.

Memorials may be made to EWTN which he watched faithfully each day and Saint Vincent DePaul Society in St. Johns.

Marian Rademacher

rademacher_marianMarian Rademacher passed away June 11, 2015 at the age of 89. She was born in Fowler on September 15, 1925 the daughter of Frank and Dora (George) Weber. Marian married Clarence Rademacher on September 22, 1948 in Fowler and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1987. She was a proud member of Ladies Auxiliary and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, spending time with friends at the V.F.W. #3733 Club and birthday celebrations for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marian is survived by her children, Gerald (Rita) of Okemos, Claud (Judy) of Fowler and Linda (Frank) Spitzley of Westphalia; grandchildren, Sarah (Glenn) Simon, Jake (Kate) Rademacher, Curt (Jill) Rademacher, Adam (Tracy) Spitzley, Neal (Amber) Spitzley, Dale (Lindsay) Spitzley, Scott Spitzley, Michael (Kimberly) Rademacher, Matthew Rademacher; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Regina Martin, Frances (Bill) Schneider, Aggie Cole; brother, Mark (Tootie) Weber, many nieces and nephews and special neighbor and friend, Penny Craig. In addition to her parents and husband, Marian is preceded in death by son, Kenneth and daughter-in-law, Christine Rademacher and six brothers.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Monday, June 15, 2015 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fowler, with Fr. Dennis Howard presiding. Burial will follow at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 13 from 7-9 pm and Sunday, June 14 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm with rosary at 3 pm and vigil service at 8 pm at the Goerge Chapel of Osgood Funeral Homes in Fowler.
