City ordinance
The St. Johns Police Department would like to remind residents that city ordinance prohibits the shooting of fireworks in the city limits any time except the day before, day of, or day after a national holiday.
The actual wording of the ordinance is:
No person shall
2) Ignite, discharge or use consumer fireworks as defined in the Michigan Fireworks Saftey Act (MCLA 28.451 et seq):
(a) On a day other than the day preceeding, the day of, or the day after a national holiday.
(b) On public or school property without the express permission of the city or a permt from the city granting such permission to do so; or
(c) On church property or the property of another, without express permission from the property owner.
