Generous Gift to City
by Barry Bauer

This photo taken in May, 1957 shows W. C. Robertson, left, plant manager of the St. Johns division of Federal-Mogul presenting a check to $2,750 to City Manager, Ken Anderson, center, and Mayor Ray Kentfield Jr. The check will pay for the five tornado warning sirens recently installed in the city.
The St. Johns city commission recently deeded a plot of land 19 feet wide by 685 feet deep (formerly Ross St.) along the south side of the Federal-Mogul plant. “Acquisition of the land will permit the company future expansion of their manufacturing facilities,” Robertson said. “It is hoped that this check will be a concrete expression of the sincerity of our appreciation,” he told the Mayor and City Manager. “This is in line with our policy of recognizing our civic responsibilities and participating actively in community affairs.”
