Briggs Reads!
The Library’s Briggs Reads! program is back! This summer, Library patrons are invited to read Five Days Left by Michigan author Julie Lawson Timmer. This engaging book shares the stories of Mara Nichols, a successful lawyer, devoted wife, and adoptive mother, and of Scott Coffman, a middle-school teacher who has been fostering an eight-year-old boy. Their stories explore the limits of endurance and the power of relationships, and show that sometimes loving someone means holding on, and sometimes it means letting go. Ms. Timmer will be at the Library is September to discuss her novel, and the Library has multiple copies available for those interested in reading it in advance of her visit. The Briggs Reads! program is generously sponsored by the Briggs Library Friends Group.

Bookaholics
The August selection of the Bookaholics Book Club is Turnabout by Margaret Peterson Haddix. Melly and Anny Beth were old women participating in a secret research study that reversed the aging process. The reversal couldn’t be halted, however, and the women have “unaged” back into teenagers, and soon they will become so young that they will no longer be able to care for themselves. This intriguing novel is now available at the Library. The clubs meet Thursday, August 20 at noon at the Library and at 7:30pm at Bruno’s Bar.
