Lions place bench at Oakview Elementary

The St Johns Lions club has dedicated a custom made park style bench in memory of Lion Jack Bertoldi who died earlier this year. His widow, Jeanne, and 3rd grade teacher Kristan Lehner are holding a box of donut holes like the treats that Jack would frequently bring to the class to reward the students for their excellent work.

The bench was presented to Lions Jacks wife Jeanne at a club meeting this past spring. Her wishes were that the bench be placed at Oakview Elementary School in St Johns.
Lion Jack served as a volunteer mentor and tutor for nine years to the students of 3rd grade teacher Kristan Lehner.
On October 5th Oakview Elementary School held an assembly where St Johns Lions Club President Hugh Baninga presided over the dedication ceremony. All the grade school students at Oakview were in attendance.
President Hugh Banninga gave the students an overview of the many things that Lion Jack had done with the Lions Club.
Third grade teacher Kristan Lehner told the students of all the activities that Lion Jack did with her class during the nine years he served as a volunteer mentor and tutor.

Jack’s widow Jeanne also addressed the student body. The bench will be placed in the lobby of the school near the entrance.
