Colleen Drabek of Saint Johns
At the April 17 Board of Trustees meeting, Colleen Drabek was one of 36 students were recognized with Board of Trustees’ Scholarship Awards for Outstanding Academic Performance and for having the highest scholastic average at the close of their last semester in attendance at Michigan State University.

Drabek is a human biology major in the College of Natural Science and a 2012 graduate of Saint Johns High School. Drabek is an inducted member of Alpha Epsilon Delta Health Pre-Professional Honor Society, as well as, an Inducted member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She attended a medical mission service trip to the Dominican Republic in 2013 with other MSU pre-health care students to provide medical care to the underserved. Drabek was an essential part of the group as she is fluent in Spanish and served as translator between the patients and the medical staff.
Upon graduating from St. Johns High School 3 years ago with a 4.0 GPA, Drabek received many awards and scholarships. Some of these included: the St. Johns Foundation for Excellence Academic Excellence Award 8 years in a row, the St. Johns High School Outstanding Science Student Award for 4 consecutive years, the A.P. Scholar Award from the A.P. College Board for scores of 5 out of 5 on every A.P. test she took, the Outstanding Advanced Spanish Student Award, Kiwanis Math student, Kiwanis Science student, Sparrow Clinton Hospital Medical Staff Science Scholarship, Sparrow Clinton Hospital Foundation Whyman Health Careers Scholarship, Carson City Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship, Michigan State University Alumni Association Textbook Scholarship; and she was accepted into the Academic Scholar Program at Michigan State University.
Colleen is the daughter of Rick and Suzy Drabek and the granddaughter of Sam and the late John Hopko of St. Johns.
