Frederick G. Ferris Jr., Ronald S. Schneider, Kathryn Sharick, Harry L. Scott, Michael Galloway, Piper Lohryn Gates
Frederick G. Ferris Jr.
Frederick G. “Fritz” Ferris Jr. died Monday, October 22, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born December 14, 1928 in Bannister, Michigan the son of Frederick H. and Frieda (Johnson) Ferris. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War and was active in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves. Fred enjoyed working in the yard, was an avid reader and enjoyed trapping and spending time with his family. He was an active member of the former St. John’s Episcopal Church and currently attends the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Fred retired from the State of Michigan, Treasury Department after 30 years of service. On August 1, 1953 he married Dolores “Dee” West and she survives him.
Also surviving is one daughter, Vicki Ferris of St. Johns; two sons, Scott of St. Johns and Jeff (Paula) of Portland, MI; four grandchildren Rachel, Lauren, Ryan and Chandler; one great grandson, Payton; two sisters, Grace Neubauer of PA and Sue (Jim) Cerny of St. Johns. He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Papciak.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 26, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Church 511 E. Sturgis St. Johns with Rev. Dr. Bryan Salminen officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8 PM Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns. Ronald S. Schneider
Ronald S. Schneider passed away on October 21, 2012, at the age of 60. Born on September 2, 1952, in St. Johns, Michigan, he was the son of Donald and Alice (Schafer) Schneider and they survive him. Ron was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of St. Johns and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also the former president of the St. Johns youth baseball, Chapter Director for the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, a Red Cross volunteer, and a proud Vietnam veteran with the Navy Reserves. Ron retired from G.M., was an avid fisherman, bus driver for the St. Johns Public Schools and was an organ donor. Ron married Eileen Thelen on September 15, 1973, in St. Johns and she survives him.
He is also survived by three sons, Ken (Candi) Schneider, Mike (Kari) Schneider, Kurt (Wendy) Schneider, daughter, Kim (David) Hunt, grandchildren, Connor, Colin, Michael, Jordan, Tyler, Blake, Easton, Avery and Kaelyn Schneider. Ron is also survived by his sisters, Joanne (Chuck) Miller of Fowler, Joyce (Mike) Bond of Everett, WA, Patty (Kurt) Koenigsknecht of St. Johns, brothers, Leon (Stef) Schneider of Fowler, Jim (Sue) of Eagle, MI, Gary (Luanne) of Fowler, Mark (Marilyn) of Pewamo, Joe (Ann) of McKinney, TX, Bob Schneider of Portland, MI, Mike (Dawn) of Mt. Pleasant, and Terry (Carrie) of St. Johns. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Schneider.
Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns with Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Osgood Funeral Homes, 104 E. Cass St., St. Johns, MI 48879. Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. and a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made in Ron’s honor to the American Red Cross, or Sparrow Foundation for the Neurosciences.

Kathryn Sharick

Kathryn Sharick, 90 of St. Johns, MI died on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Grace Haven Assisted Living Center. She was born on Feb. 22, 1922 in Fairview, MI the daughter of Oliver J. and Alta Mae (Mast) Miller. Kathryn graduated from Fairview High School in 1940. She married Milton Sharick on Aug. 23, 1941 in St. Johns, MI. Kathryn was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, did volunteer work at Hazel Findlay Country Manor for several years, was a Teacher’s Aide at Swegles School for several years and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by sons Morris (Viola) Sharick and Jerry (Diane) Sharick both of St. Johns. MI and daughter Carol (Lorne) Rideout of Exeter, Ontario; 7 grandchildren, Dean Sharick, Julie McDonald, Gwynn Elberson, Kirstin Wright, Stacey Baker, Heather Foran and Brett Rideout; 20 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and a sister, Olive Shetler of Highland, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Milton in 1987, 7 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Bethel Mennonite Church, 9785 S. Bagley Rd., Ashley, MI on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. with Reverend Sherman Kauffman officiating. The family will receive friends at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Monday, 3-8 P.M. Memorial may be given to American Heart Association or Great Lakes Hospice of Clinton County. A special thank you to Grace Haven Assisted Living and Great Lakes Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion given to Mom.


Harry L. Scott
Harry L. Scott, 81 of rural St. Johns, MI died Friday, October 19, 2012. He was born on September 12, 1931 in Victor Twp. MI the son of Raymond and Loereta (Giffels) Scott. On June 6, 1959 he married Doris Wieber, and she died on June 26, 2011. Harry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a General Motors retiree after 37 years and had served in the U.S. Army.
He us survived by daughter Janine (Jack) Larsen of St. Johns and son Kevin (Janene) Scott of St. Johns; three grandchildren, Daniel and Emily Scott and Trisha (Ryan) Wiseman and 2 great grandchildren, Jackson and Caroline; brothers, Ronald Scott, and Charles (Mary) Scott, all of DeWitt, Oliver Scott of Niles, MI and sisters-in-law Nancy
The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home on Sunday, 2-8 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Vigil services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Sunday evening. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Vincent de Paul Society.


Michael Galloway
Michael Galloway passed away on October 17, 2012, at the age of 52. Born May 22, 1960 in Owosso, Michigan, the son of Howard and Maria (Vega) Galloway. Michael married Debra (Irish) Galloway on May 19, 1989 in St. Johns and she survives him.
He is also survived by his daughter, Amber Galloway of Terrell, TX; son, Richard Galloway of St. Johns, grandsons, James Taylor Black, Jessie Shane Merchant, sisters,Katie (Charles) Jennings, April (Denny) Kersjes; brother, Howard (Elizabeth) Galloway, mother and father-in-law, Keith and Shirley Irish, sister-in-law, Dawn (Russ) Benson, grandmother, Gladys McKay, aunt, Phyllis Straw, as well as many nieces and nephews. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.


Piper Lohryn Gates
Piper Lohryn Gates passed into her Shepherd’s arms October 17, 2012. She is the daughter of Branden and Marie Gates of DeWitt, Michigan.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, October 19, 2012 at Northpointe Community Church, 505 E. Webb Dr., DeWitt, Michigan with Pastor Tim Balogh officiating. Burial will follow at the DeWitt Cemetery.
The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
