Judith Ann Curtis
Judith Ann “Judy” Curtis, 71 of Ovid, MI passed away on September 8, 2015 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan following a short illness. Judy was born on March 4, 1944 in Yale, MI the daughter of Alfred J. and Martha (Schwartzkopf) Rhody. She graduated from Capac High School and on September 19, 1964 she married Larry A. Curtis in Capac, MI. She loved to go camping and fishing with her family and friends. A yearly camping trip with the grandchildren was something they all looked forward to. Judy worked as a floral designer at Deisler’s Flowers and later at St. Johns Floral and Greenhouse for several years.
Judy is survived by her husband Larry; children, Loren ( Jodi) Curtis of Bay City, MI., Roxanne (Grant) LeDuke of Ovid, MI and Bryan (Michelle) Curtis of St. Johns, MI; grandchildren, Rachel (Jake) Kramer of Ft. Walton Beach, FL., Mitchell LeDuke of Ovid, MI, Tyler and Katelyn Curtis of St. Johns, MI sisters, Nancy Brieger of New Port Richie, FL., Mary Jane Martin of Capac, MI and Pam (John) Pfeifauf of Allenton, MI.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, MI on Friday, September 11, 2015, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Memorial services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Tim Dickenson officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, Ovid Public Library or Ovid-Middlebury Ambulance Service.
Harriette Joan Smith
Harriette Joan Smith died Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the age of 83. She was born March 30, 1932 in Pewamo, MI the daughter of Arnold and Irene (Lay) Fedewa. Joan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 153 and the Eight et Forty. She enjoyed playing cards and loved spending time with her friends at the Coming Home Senior Center. She is a retired St. Johns Public Schools employee where she worked in food service.
Surviving are her children, Ann Green, Lee (Dori) Smith, Cheryl Lowe and Eric (Stephanie) Smith all of St. Johns; eleven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy O’Connell of Carson City, MI. On May 29, 1954 she married Cecil Smith and he preceded her in death in 2004. She was also predeceased by her parents, four sisters, Esther Hutting, Kathleen Lawless, Doris Lawless and Mary Ann Fedewa; two brothers, Edwin Fedewa and Norman Fedewa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 am Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Linden St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams as Celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns with a vigil service and rosary at 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Coming Home Senior Center.
Charlie E. Paddock
Charlie E. Paddock, age 75, passed away on September 7, 2015. He was born in Manton, MI, on March 20, 1940, the son of Willis and Elvena (Scott) Paddock. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. Charlie married Marvel Foster and she preceded him in death.
Surviving are children, Charles (Julie) Paddock of Ovid, David Paddock of St. Johns, Gary (Julie) Paddock of Perry, five grandchildren, Christine Paddock, Gregory Paddock, Tyler Karhoff, Ryan LaLonde, Kaylyn Paddock, brother, Theodore Waldo Paddock, sister, Colleen Smith and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents and his wife, Marvel.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m.on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns, with burial following at Mt. Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a memorial to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, 25882 Orchard Lake Rd., Farmington Hills, MI, 48336 in Charlie’s name.
