Hi, my name is Hayley. I’m very friendly and cuddly and I love to give kisses. I love attention and sitting in your lap or next to you. I can get a little anxious if I get left at home alone, though, and would really like a home where someone is home most of the time.
I am house trained as long as someone is home, but when I get left alone, I get so anxious that I tend to forget that I shouldn’t potty inside and I will need someone patient enough to work with me on safety cues so I can feel safe when I’m alone. If you do need to leave me alone for a little while, please don’t crate me as it tends to make my anxiety worse.
I’m great with other dog and cats. I take corrections really well from kitties and even though I sometimes get excited and want to play with them, if you tell me “no” I will stop and leave them alone. I get really excited about meeting people and I do tend to bark or jump on people sometimes for attention, but if I can crawl up in your lap or sit next to you I calm right back down.
I do well with adults and older children. With young children I can get over-excited and tend to get nippy if I’m surprised so a home with kids at least in their teens would probably be best for me. As for visiting grandchildren, I’m perfectly happy to meet them as long as you’re around to supervise, calm me down, and make sure I don’t get startled. I have done well meeting 6 year olds before, but they generally left me alone after meeting me.
I absolutely love going on walks and being outside and while I would definitely benefit from a fenced yard so I can just run out and go potty myself, I would also really love a home where I could go on daily walks with you since I’m very interactive with people. I’m pretty good with commands and once I get to know you I could probably walk off-leash with you since I only wander a few yards to explore. I also really enjoy squeaky stuffed animals. I would love to play fetch with you or go on errands with you, especially to the pet store. I’m great for quiet companionship too. Mostly I just want to be with you and spend time with you, whether it’s outside on a walk or sitting next to you and watching a movie.
