

CRV Summer 2015 Inreach: Students visited Abrams Planetarium as part of the Summer Science activities

Summer Science activities for students on their choices of nine days of travel covered 17 specific activities plus the annual stop at the MSU ice cream store for 22 cones.
New this year was the Abrams Planetarium and the Lansing Board of Water and Light to see the supply and handling of pure water and also to visit their solar energy array.
Three additional sites included the Consumers Training Center in Marshall where they train men to climb their poles and handle all facets of delivering electricity to the users. In Bay City the group found a US destroyer on display.
Ovid-Elsie student at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo wore 3 D glasses ready to ride the space shuttle. O-E Students also looked at an historic air plane with a retired military man explaining details and history while Bill Richards looked on.
The Civil Engineering Department at the University of Michigan worked with students on materials testing and construction designs. The strongest bridge is determined by the bucket that holds the most the sand.
CRV expects to expand their Saturday Science to include additional activities with Abrams and the use of 12 telescopes given to CRV.
