This 1940 Chevy was among those on display Wednesday at the SJHS Auto Program Cruise In

by Maralyn Fink

This is the 45th Anniversary of the auto program and the first year under the leadership of Chris Richards, a teacher with St. Johns Public Schools. Chris, along with volunteers, set the date, set up the site, made up flyers, handled registration and what all is needed for this to run.

The cheerleading squad had two booths set up and gave their time to serve food and drink for anyone that attends.

The show also sold 50/50 raffle tickets and auto club t-shirts, and all pf the money was put in their fund for future costs and also allows for a few scholarships.

In memory of Don Boak who was an avid car fan, the family arranged for three of Don’s cars on display. Two plaques were to be given to an entry of 21 years of age and under.

If you have not been to one of these shows and want memories of the good old days, this is the place to do it.

Thank you, Chris and anyone I spoke to, for your time and showing me around and answering questions.
