The perfect game Armando Galarraga of the Detroit Tigers pitched meant nothing because it was forever tainted by one lousy call by an umpire who was clearly out of position. He was part way down the right field foul line covering a fly ball when it was a grounder in the infield. Nobody asked what the other umps saw.
I don’t care if there’s instant replay or there isn’t instant replay. All I care about is if they’re going to keep showing replays, then they should use them. Otherwise ban them and leave the call in doubt.
That’s one reason why I won’t spend three hours watching a baseball game just to see a bad call like that ruin the game.
The powers that be in Major League Baseball say it’s too much trouble to get it right . . . gees.

* * *

If there are 12 million Mexicans in this country illegally, there can’t be many of them left at home, right? That brings up a question then, whose left to defend Mexico? And if we can’t come up with a sizable answer to that question, why don’t we invade Mexico? Where’s our sense of adventure? Where’s Teddy Roosevelt when we need him?
If we have to deal with their problems, we might as well have their land and all the natural resources they’re sitting on.
Did I mention oil?
What we need to do right off the bat is to tell the government of Mexico if they don’t stop encouraging their citizens to illegally enter the United States, “The Yanks are coming!”
We’ll let other countries know that if you want to be part of the United States then your army better take a vacation. We’ll continue our expansion until we find a nation that doesn’t want to be part of the United States and then we’ll quit. This plan will also work with Canada. If we find 12 million Canadians in this country illegally then our troops will be heading north.
I like that much better than the wars we find ourselves begrudgingly in.
We also have some extra politicians (you know, those political midgets who think they’re giants) we can spare and we’ll send them down there to run this new territory. They’ll screw up the Mexican’s lives so bad that they’ll wish they could go home again, but they can’t. You see, their home is now our home.
No sense messing around with this illegal immigration thing anymore.

* * *

President Johnson followed President Kennedy’s “New Frontier” with “The Great Society.” He told us we could have both “guns and butter.” Of course we knew he was full of it. The Vietnam War funneled a great amount of money away from social programs just like what’s going on today.
Congress passed Obamacare while we are bogged down in a war that has no end. And again great amounts of money are going down a rat hole.
The only thing Obama is going to accomplish with his national healthcare plan is to bankrupt the nation. Is that what he wants?
When Obamacare passed, the first thing I worried about was losing my current Federal-Mogul health insurance. I figured Obamacare gave companies an excuse to drop their insurance programs because the federal government was going to take care of us.
The problem is, Obamacare doesn’t really go into effect until 2014 which leaves retirees stranded now. All of the promises the retirees were given during their working years went right down the tubes.
Federal-Mogul’s salary retirees are being notified that they’re losing their health care coverage. Federal-Mogul’s press release also mentioned hourly retirees although we’re not sure yet if that includes the plants with UAW contracts.
Of course we all know contracts mean nothing in today’s America.
Federal-Mogul went through the bankruptcy procedure and emerged a profitable company and all the while we had health insurance and now this. So we sit, and wait, and keep our fingers crossed.

* * *

I finished the 1,072 page book, Under the Dome, by Stephen King. Tackling the biggest book I’ve ever attempted was aided by King himself. Number one, he made it very interesting. And number two, he threw in a few blank pages that still counted which made me feel like I was reading faster than what I was.
Was he playing mind games with the readers?
I finally learned the source of evil and it’s somewhat surprising but believable. I ordered and received three more books. One by Stephen King and two by my favorite guy, Andy Rooney.
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-15972","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
