Rex Mohnke, US Army National Guard, Ret. joined Lillian Law at Wednesday evening&#8217;s dedication of a memorial flag for her son, Spec. 4 Brent Law who was killed in Vietnam on that date 40 years ago.<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>With an album by Rhonda Dedyne<\/strong><!--more--><br \/>\nFamily and friends of Brent Law gathered July 21 at the Clinton County Veteran&#8217;s Memorial as a new U.S. flag was raised &#8211; one that was first flown in his honor at the Capitol in Washington D.C.<br \/>\nSpc. 4 Brent R. Law was killed in action 40 years ago, July 21, 1970, in Vietnam. He was the flight medic on a &#8220;dustoff&#8221; helicopter that came under fire while attempting to evacuate wounded soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division following a firefight with NVA troops.<br \/>\nThe crew was successful in rescuing 26 wounded comrades in five, separate trips in and out of a landing zone &#8211; Brent was shot and killed on the final pick-up when NVA troops charged and fired on the helicopter as it left the ground.<br \/>\n[picasa width=&#8221;500&#8243; height=&#8221;375&#8243; bgcolor=&#8221;#000000&#8243; autoplay=&#8221;1&#8243; showcaption=&#8221;1&#8243; user=&#8221;sjindy&#8221; album=&#8221;es_10law&#8221;]<br \/>\nCheck next week&#8217;s Indy for details on the flag raising and dedication ceremony.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stan Helms and Maj.
