\nYou can next week when contestants in Clinton County Idol 2010 take the stage at the St. Johns City Park Performance Shell. The winner will be crowned July 28, following preliminary rounds on July 27. Performances begin at 7 p.m. each evening; no admission charge.
\nClinton County residents aged 12 and older are eager to test their singing skills at the third annual Idol event that’s based on the popular American Idol television show. Like that series, CC Idol is a solo “singing contest.” Contestants may choose to accompany themselves on guitar or keyboard, or use CD backing.
\nThe preliminary round will be judged by a trio of adjudicators. The top performers return the following evening for the “big show” where the audience votes to select the Top 6 who will return after an intermission to perform a second and final song.
\nAudience members will vote again, selecting the top three performers. The new Clinton County Idol receives a check for $200; second- and third-place winners receive $50 and $25.
\nBoth nights of Idol are being sponsored by Sparrow Clinton Hospital this year.

\nClinton County Idol 2010 is part of the weekly Concert in the Park, sponsored by the Clinton County Arts Council and the City of St. Johns with support from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.
\nConcerts are held each Wednesday evening in the beautiful outdoor concert venue at the St. Johns City Park. The St. Johns Lions and Lioness Club staff a concession stand that offers light refreshments. All concerts are held rain or shine.
