Open to K-12 Students
\nDr. Emmett Binkert, struck by the beauty of the St. Mary Church steeple, chose Carson City to practice medicine. In 1936, he started Carson City Hospital in what was then his home.
\nIn 2011, Carson City Hospital will be celebrating 75 years of serving the health-care needs of the community. As part of the celebration and to encourage participation from local students, the hospital is sponsoring a 75th Anniversary Logo Design Contest, open too K-12 students in the hospital\u2019s service area. The deadline to submit a design is November 29, 2010.
\n“It\u2019s so fascinating to think back on Dr. Binkert having a vision for this hospital, and to look at its humble beginnings in small home compared to the state-of-the-art health-care facility we have today,” said Jennifer Churchill, Carson City Hospital\u2019s Public Relations Manager. “I think Dr. Binkert would be proud.”
\nThe logo design submissions will be displayed in a public area of the hospital, and the winning design will be seen by the whole community in local newspapers and possibly on billboards, as well. The designer of the winning logo will receive a gift card for $100, as well as publicity in local media for their accomplishment.
\nThe theme for the 75th anniversary celebration is “Caring for Generations,” and the contest is open to any student, K-12, in a public or private school in the Carson City Hospital service area, which includes portions of Clinton, Gratiot, Ionia and Montcalm counties. The design should incorporate the text “75 years,” or “since 1936” or “1936-2011” or some variation of this text.
\nLOGO CONTEST Rules and Requirements<\/strong>:
\n\u2022The contest is open to any student, K-12, in a public or private school in the Carson City Hospital service area, which includes portions of Clinton, Gratiot, Ionia and Montcalm counties. \n\u2022All submissions must contain a primary graphic that is a visual\/artistic representation of the theme \u201cCaring for Generations.\u201d
\n\u2022The text \u201cCaring for Generations\u201d may be included, but is not required.
\n\u2022The design should focus more on a visual representation of this theme as it relates to 75 years of healthcare service to the community.
\n\u2022The design should incorporate the text \u201c75 Years,\u201d or \u201cSince 1936\u201d or \u201c1936-2011\u201d or some variation of this text.
\n\u2022The design may incorporate elements of the hospital\u2019s existing logo, but is not required to.
\n\u2022The hospital logo is available in high resolution by contacting Jennifer Churchill at 989-584-3971 ext. 237 or at jachurchill@carsoncityhospital.com<\/a>.
\n\u2022Designers may refer to the hospital web site for background information on the hospital, a list of services the hospital provides, and family physician office locations at www.carsoncityhospital.com<\/a>.
\n\u2022All submissions must be in a digital format (300 dpi) or provided in hard-copy format on no larger than an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, and legible enough to be scanned for electronic use.
\n\u2022One submission per student.
\n\u2022The final design may or may not be used on all promotional materials for the hospital\u2019s 75th Anniversary events and promotions, and for any other means that the hospital deems necessary.
\nThere is no submission form to fill out, but you can contact the hospital for a copy of the logo contest rules and requirements, which is also posted on the hospital\u2019s Facebook page.
