I am a Pet Rescuer
\n<\/strong>
\nMy job is to assist God’s creatures
\nI was born with the drive to fulfill their needs
\nI take in helpless, unwanted, homeless creatures without planning or selection
\nI have bought dog food with my last dime
\nI have patted a mangy head with a bare hand
\nI have hugged someone vicious and afraid
\nI have fallen in love a thousand times
\nAnd I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body too many times to count
\nI have Animal Friends and friends who have animal friends
\nI don’t often use the word “pet”
\nI notice those lost at the road side
\nAnd my heart aches
\nI know of no creature unworthy of my time
\nI want to live forever if there aren’t animals in Heaven
\nBut I believe there are
\nWhy would God make something so perfect and leave it behind
\nSome may think we are master of the animals
\nBut the animals have mastered themselves
\nSomething people still haven’t learned
\nWar and Abuse make me hurt for the world
\nBut a rescue that makes the news gives me hope for mankind
\nWe are a quiet but determined army
\nAnd we are making a difference every day
\nThere is nothing more necessary that warming an orphan
\nnothing more rewarding than saving a life
\nNo higher recognition than watching them thrive
\nThere is no greater joy than seeing a baby play
\nwho only days ago, was too weak to eat
\nBy the love of those who I’ve been privileged to rescue
\nI have been rescued
\nI know what true unconditional love really is
\nfor I’ve seen it shining in the eyes of so many
\nGrateful for so little
\nI am an Animal Rescuer
\nMy work is never done
\nMy home is never quiet
\nMy wallet is always empty
\nBut my heart is always full <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
