It’s called a “Heritage turkey” and like Heirloom tomatoes, they are a throwback to the old days. The bird’s genetics can be traced back to the 1800s. Like heirloom tomatoes, heritage turkeys are prized for their flavor and are not bred for plump breasts like most turkeys are nowadays.
I e-mailed Renee and told her that a Heritage turkey of this size sells for $169.99 on the internet. She e-mailed back and told me I’d better not try to sell it and substitute it with another turkey from the local grocery store. She says she’ll know the difference.
I wouldn’t do that . . . would I?

* * *

I’ve been thinking again about this TSA thing that’s going on in the airports nowadays and it really bothers me. The question comes up, how damned dumb are we anyway? I don’t think we’re protesting enough.
People who want or need to fly somewhere go through this ridiculous screening process at the airport where they’re felt up, groped, or sexually molested, depending on how you look at it, in a public place by total strangers.
You don’t even get a glass of wine afterwards!
What civilized nation tells its citizens that they’ll have to submit to being touched in intimate places or they can’t fly? And if they raise a fuss, they could be arrested. Sounds like molestation by force.
You have to be a little embarrassed for this country.
Some people come out of the screening process and say how much safer they feel flying. Oh really, they’ve just been molested and they feel safer?
That’s how Jews were sent to the gas chambers!
People are thrown in jail everyday for doing the same thing and yet it’s okay for our government to do it? Is molestation okay in one circumstance and illegal in others? If I were one of those flakeos serving time for this crime, I’d protest. If it is legal, why am I in jail? Their only mistake is they didn’t do it at an airport where it is legal.
Location, location, location.
The Israelis have a different approach to the problem. They “profile” and look for Muslims. They don’t grope children, they don’t grope nuns, they don’t grope senior citizens. They look for certain types with certain mannerisms. Why, because in the real world, this is where the threat comes from.
How much simpler can it be?
You don’t go to the American/Mexican border looking for Radical Muslim Extremist (did I say that right?) and you don’t go to the airport looking for illegal Mexican immigrants and Mexican drug dealers.
Will they ever learn? I doubt it. We’ve caught a serious case of the “stupids” in this country.

* * *

A few thoughts:
I like peanuts, and I like peanut butter, but I don’t like crunchy peanut butter.
Does anybody miss seeing Octomom’s face in the news?
Do you suppose Benjamin Franklin was right when he said the turkey should be our national bird?
It’s estimated that we will fix over 45 million turkeys for Thanksgiving.
Wild turkeys can fly a short distance but a domestic turkey can’t fly at all.
Why is it when a Republican appears on “The View,” Joy Behar’s fangs pop out? I don’t care for the woman.
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-19553","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
