Skorna, Joseph Young, Janet Osgood Lawson, Dorothy G. Day, Rev. Joseph F. Eger, Jr.<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Judy M. Skorna<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/skorna_judy.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Judy M. Skorna, 59, passed away on December 8, 2010. She was born Janaury 24, 1951 in St. Louis, Michigan, the daughter of Cecil and Clara (Colbry-Gallihugh) Jones. Judy previously worked as a caregiver for the elderly in adult foster care homes.<br \/>\nShe is survived by one daughter, Patricia (Lynn) England of Iowa, two sons, Christopher Skorna of Ft. Hood, Texas and Michael Skorna of St. Johns, six grandchildren, Jessica Hutchins, Christopher Hayborn, Kami and Heather Pohl, Faith and Mia Skorna and her mother, Clara Gallihugh of St. Johns. Judy also has two sisters, Joyce Doty &#038; Linda (Robert) Pettigrew, both of St. Johns, her brother, Mack Jones of California and uncle, Joseph Colbry of Lansing, and the father of her children, Joseph Skorna of Owosso. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Jones, infant brother, Mack Leon Jones and brothers, Ronald Jones and Robert Jones.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be 11 am Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Home<\/a>, 104 E. Cass St. St. Johns, MI and burial at Union Home Cemetery, with Rev. Phil Beavers officiating. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Joseph \u201cJoe\u201d Young<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nJoseph \u201cJoe\u201d Young, age 71, passed away November 27, 2010 in St. Johns, Michigan. Joe was born in Laingsburg, Michigan on September 11, 1939 the son of Kenneth and Helen (Giffels) Young. Joe worked at the grain elevator in St. Johns and was a part-time custodian at RESA.<br \/>\nMemorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, December 11 at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Johns with Rev. Fr. Eoin Murphy officiating. Sympathy may be expressed to a charity of his family\u2019s choice. The family was served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Janet Osgood Lawson<\/strong><br \/>\nJanet Osgood Lawson, 84, passed away October 7, 2010 in Crossville, TN after a brief illness.  Born in St. Johns, MI, she was the daughter of Gladys Stitt Osgood and Glenn Worley Osgood.  She held degrees from the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University.  She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and an educator for 35 years in Plymouth, MI teaching music, physical education and health.  In her retirement she resided in Corea, ME, Naples, FL, Crossville, TN and Laconia, NH where she enjoyed attending concerts and plays and often donated her time to work for charitable organizations.  Janet will be remembered for her love of music and learning as well as her passion for nature.<br \/>\nShe is predeceased by her husband Robert Stevens Lawson and brother General Glenn Osgood.  She is survived by her two sisters Dorothy Jean Osgood Sirrine of St. Johns, MI and Shirley Osgood Culver of Crossville, TN, her three children Lisbeth Lawson Rosenfeld of Laconia, NH, James Stevens Lawson of Whitmore Lake, MI and Peter Stitt Lawson of Williamston, MI and six grandchildren.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Dorothy G. Day<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/day_dorothy.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Dorothy G. Day, 95, passed away Friday, December 3, 2010.  Born in Lansing, February 8, 1915, she was the daughter of Ransom and Esther (Baker) Dietrich. She was a member of Pilgrim (Price) United Methodist Church and active with the St. Johns Senior Center.  She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel, having taught school in Clinton County for 16 years and in Lansing for 18 years. Dorothy married Gerald Phinney on April 22, 1937 and he preceded her in death April 24, 1978.  She married Earl Day on January 10, 1981 and he preceded her in death December 24, 2002.  She was also preceded in death by her son James Phinney and brothers, Don and Jack Dietrich.<br \/>\nSurviving are two daughters, Geraldine (Arlond) Pearsall of DeWitt, MI, Ruth (Kenneth) Quincy of Clinton Twp., MI; one daughter in law, Elaine Phinney of Clinton, UT; six grandchildren, Michael (Jolene) Phinney of Layton, UT, Michelle Phinney of Houston, TX, Jeffrey (Lori) Pearsall of St. Johns, Susan Pearsall of Tampa, FL, Kristin (William) Porm of Roy, UT, and Jennifer (John) Hallead of St. Johns, MI; seven great and two great great grandchildren; and one sister, Clarice Curtis of Springfield, MO.<br \/>\nFuneral services were held Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Pilgrim United Methodist Church in St. Johns, with burial at South Bingham Cemetery, and Pastor Ken Bremer officiating.  The family was served by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Homes<\/a>. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim United Methodist Church or the St. Johns Senior Center.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Rev. Joseph F. Eger, Jr.<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/eger_joseph.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\" \/>Rev. Joseph F. Eger, Jr., known by many as \u201cBrother Joe\u201d, 81 of rural Ovid died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010.  Joe was born on Feb. 10. 1929 in Lansing, MI the son of Joseph F. and Mary (Kish) Eger Sr.  He graduated from Ovid High School in 1946 and then Southeastern Bible Institute.  On May 30, 1952 he married Jewell Brown in Lakeland, FL.  Joe was a farmer and minister in Millersburg, MI, Perth Amboy NJ, Marysville TN and First Assembly of God in St. Johns for 30 years until his retirement.  He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading and his family.<br \/>\nHe is survived by wife Jewell; sons Joseph W. (Tessa) Eger and David F. (Anna) Eger both of Ovid; daughter, Joy (Keith) Currie of Ovid; two grandchildren and a sister, Mary Anne Barrett of Ovid.  He was preceded in death by 2 brothers.<br \/>\nFuneral Services will be held at First Assembly of God Church in St. Johns on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Eldon Brown officiating.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ovid. The family will receive friends and relatives at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns, on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, 2-4 and 6-8 P.M.
