You know, complain at the airport, complain to the government, write the president, write the Pope, and complain to your neighbor. I guess you can say we’re “easily had.” The only ones complaining are a few religious groups and of course, the Muslims. They feel both the scanner and the groping (brought to you by bureaucrats in Washington) is an invasion of their body. It wouldn’t surprise me if our government makes them exempt to protect their freedom of religion.
By the way, the body scanner gives the passengers a dose of radiation every time they go through it. Isn’t that supposed to be bad for you?
I can’t imagine that the generations who fought World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War would come home and tolerate this invasion of their privacy. Isn’t there something in the Bill of Rights about unreasonable searches and seizures? Wouldn’t groping and body scanners be unreasonable? Where’s our sense of pride anymore?
If our troops in Afghanistan listen closely, they can probably hear laughter coming out of whatever cave Osama bin Laden is hiding in. We should stop this nonsense and start profiling the people that we already know wish us harm, and stop acting like we’re incompetent.

* * *

Whenever I read the Washington Post columnist, George Will, I get a headache. He talks so far over my head that I’m not so sure he isn’t an alien from another world. When he’s finished talking I can only think, George, what the hell did you just say? I have this overwhelming urge to tell him, “George, you’re a smart man, but I can’t keep going back to my copy of Webster’s dictionary.” It takes me too long to read his column and understand what he’s saying.
Here are some of the words he threw at us this week in his column:
cloying
premise
gaseous rhetoric
intemperate
dispositive
pieties
bromides
banalities
scrupulously
virtuous
intemperate
sanctimony
confabulation
Thirteen words and without a dictionary I can only guess what they mean. Go a little easier on us, will you George.

* * *

I was starting to have my doubts about Drew Stanton, quarterback for the Detroit Lions. I was beginning to think what his coaches probably think about him was right. He seemed indecisive in the Green Bay game. Drew played better in the second half but it was still a defensive win.
Now with two wins in a row under his belt and a very good game at Tampa Bay, I’m reading that the already injured Shaun Hill might start at Miami instead because Stanton separated his shoulder against Tampa Bay.
Can’t they put in some screws and hook bungee cords to Detroit’s quarterback’s shoulders to keep them in place? Maybe they need to lift more weights.

* * *

You can track Santa Christmas Eve by logging on to www.noradsanta.org
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-20077","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
