Paul Opsommer, R-Dewitt, has made the following statement<!--more--> after the governor&#8217;s State of the State address:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The governor unveiled his plans to reform our state tonight and I am very excited about many of the proposals that I heard. Gov. Snyder&#8217;s commitment to a more effective budget cycle that is done every 2 years and is completed by July 1 is exactly what I have been trying to implement for the past two sessions. It is our duty to create a well-balanced budget including programs that are beneficial to our state and its residents. If we don&#8217;t complete the budget on time we are failing our constituents, which is why I have proposed the loss of pay for legislators if the budget is not finished.<br \/>\nI am especially pleased that Gov. Snyder will be placing an emphasis on changing laws to allow communities to share services and work better together. Improving the Urban Cooperation Act for example is something I have emphasized and I look forward to working with the governor and my fellow legislators to make these types of reforms a reality.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/gallery\/11jan\/opsommer.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"image\" class=\"aligncenter size-full\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Rep.
