Thelen, Betty Jean Rossow, Rodney A. Yaich, Patricia L. VanBuren-Hovey, Otto K. Thurston<!--more--><br \/>\n<strong>Winifred &#8220;Winnie&#8221; R. Thelen<\/strong><br \/>\nWinifred &#8220;Winnie&#8221; R. Thelen of Westphalia, age 86, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011. She was born February 29, 1924 in Westphalia the daughter of Mathias and Mary (Belen) Kloeckner. Winnie was a member of St. Mary&#8217;s Catholic Church in Westphalia, Christian Mothers Society and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Her passions in life were playing cards, putting puzzles together, baking bread and tending to her flower garden. Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald N. Thelen; sons Bruce and Russell Thelen; granddaughter, Jamie Thelen; great grandson Brandon Thelen; brothers Hilary, Arthur, Harold, Richard, Donald and Melvin Kloeckner; sisters Vera Spitzley, Alma Thelen, Pauline Williams.<br \/>\nSurviving are her children Denise (David) Cushion of DeWitt, David (Judy) Thelen of DeWitt, Nancy Jo (Gary) Bissell of Grand Ledge, Jerry (Alice) Thelen of Lansing and Jane (James) Bierstetel of Westphalia; 26 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters Margaret Masseau of Lansing, Laurine Sebrell of Lansing, Germaine Walker of Lansing, Joann Cook of Pewamo, Patricia (DJ) Mace of Lansing; sister-in-law, Mary Kloeckner of Portland; daughter-in-law, Maureen Thelen of Lansing; many nieces and nephews.<br \/>\nThe Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msgr. Sylvester Fedewa at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 4, 2011 at St. Mary&#8217;s Catholic Church, Westphalia. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary&#8217;s Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the St. Mary&#8217;s Funeral Chapel, 210 N. Westphalia, Westphalia. The rosaries will be prayed at 7 p.m., Wednesday and 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Thursday. Arrangements are entrusted to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schraubenlehman.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes<\/a>, Portland.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Betty Jean Rossow<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/rossow_jean.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Betty Jean Rossow died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the age of 84. She was born July 23, 1926 in Olive Township, Clinton County, Michigan the daughter of Winnie Roy and Edna Mae (Reinhart) Phillips.  Jean was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and was active with the Ladies Aide and the Lutheran Women\u2019s Missionaries League. She served for several years as the secretary for the Intermediate School Group for Handicapped Children and was an Avon representative.  On October 19, 1948 she married Gerald C. Rossow Sr. and he preceded her in death May 20, 1995.  She was also predeceased by a son-in-law Phillip Tiedt, brother, William Phillips and brother-in-law William Leach.<br \/>\nSurviving is one daughter, Pamela Tiedt of St. Johns; two sons, Gerald Rossow Jr. of Sault Ste. Marie and Randy of Eaton Rapids; five grandchildren: three great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Leach of DeWitt and sister-in-law, Eleanor Phillips of Owosso.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held 11:00AM Thursday, March 3, 2011 at St. Peter Lutheran Church 8990 Church Rd. St. Johns with Pastor Jeffrey Heimsoth officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends 6-8PM Tuesday and 2-4 and 6-8PM Wednesday at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns. Yaich<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/yaich_rod.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Rodney A. Yaich, 61, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born in Detroit, October 6, 1949, the son of Donald and Suzanne (Dixon) Yaich. Rod married Barbara Ziegler on November 12, 1983 in Brighton Michigan. Rod made everyday seem new and special for each one of his family members.<br \/>\nRod is survived by his daughters, Karen (Ryan) Eustice and Emily (Michael) Hanley and son, Stephen Yaich. Rod is also survived by his grandchildren, Noah, Emma, Anastasia and Amelia Eustice and Charlotte Hanley. Rod was preceded in death by his parents.<br \/>\nMass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing with Rev. Fr. John Ziegler as celebrant. Burial will follow the luncheon at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan. The family will receive friends at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osgoodfuneral.com\/ \"target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Osgood Funeral Home<\/a> 104 E. Cass St. St. Johns on Tuesday, 2-4 and 6-8 pm and 9-10 am prior to the mass on Wednesday. Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm Tuesday with the Divide Mercy Chaplet at 3 pm on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests masses to be offered for the repose of his soul. VanBuren-Hovey<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/vanburen_patricia.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Patricia L. VanBuren-Hovey, 64 of Owosso, MI died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso.  Patricia was born on June 5, 1946 in Detroit, MI the daughter of Bruce and Helen (McWade) Campbell.  She worked as a chef at local restaurants, the last being Celia\u2019s in Owosso.  She enjoyed her family, especially the grandchildren, bowling, shooting pool and playing bingo.<br \/>\nShe is survived by her children, Richard VanBuren of Midland, MI., Michael (Julie) Campbell of Gales Ferry, CT., Robert (Jenny) VanBuren of North Canton, OH., Beth (Ryan) Wenburg of St. Johns and Christine VanBuren of Gladwin; 11 grandchildren and brother, Robert Campbell of Wayne, MI.<br \/>\nFuneral services will be held at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a> on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ken Bremer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, 2-6 P.M. Thurston<\/strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/miserybay.usanethosting.com\/sjindy\/obits\/images2\/thurston_otto.jpg\" HSPACE=\"5\" ALIGN=\"left\"\/>Otto K. Thurston died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the age of 88. He was born July 2, 1922 in Bengal Township, Clinton County, Michigan, the son of Forest and Myrtle (Darling) Thurston.  He was a lifelong farmer and worked several years for Clark Construction. Otto was a member of the First Congregational Church in St. Johns, Farm Bureau, and the St. Johns and Ovid Masonic Lodge #105.  On October 31, 1943 he married Frances Heathman who survives him.<br \/>\nAlso surviving are two sons, Keith (Winnie) of Lansing and Terry (Barbara) of St. Johns; three grandchildren, Heather (Brian) Russell of Lansdale, PA, Marcelle Thurston of Olympia, WA, Jason (Sharon) Thurston of Ada, MI; three great grandchildren, Cami and Delaney Russell and Audrey Thurston; one brother, Wilbur (Leola) Thurston of St. Johns. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Bottom.<br \/>\nThe family will receive friends and relatives 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.keckcolemanfh.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Keck-Coleman Funeral Home<\/a>, St. Johns.
