March is Reading Month Winner<\/strong> and more
\nCongratulations to Zanna Mabe who won the drawing for March is Reading Month. She received a gift card from Schuler Book Store.

\nMother’s Day Program <\/strong>
\nThere are a few openings left for the Tuesday,May 3rd Mother’s Day Program. It runs from 7 to 8 pm and children (boys & girls) ages 3 and up are welcome to come with Mom and\/or Grandma. There will be stories, light refreshments and craft for all to enjoy.

\nCelebrate National Library Week, April 10-16, 2011 <\/strong>
\nAt a time when library usage is at an all time high, libraries are really helping their communities thrive in these tough economic times.
\nIn the mid-1950s, research showed that Americans were spending less on books and more on radios, televisions and musical instruments. Concerned that Americans were reading less, the ALA and the American Book Publishers formed a nonprofit citizens organization called the National Book Committee in 1954.
\nThe committee’s goals were ambitious. They ranged from “encouraging people to read in their increasing leisure time” to “improving incomes and health” and “developing strong and happy family life.”
\nIn 1957, the committee developed a plan for National Library Week based on the idea that once people were motivated to read, they would support and use libraries. With the cooperation of ALA and with help from the Advertising Council, the first National Library Week was observed in 1958 with the theme “Wake Up and Read!”
\nNational Library Week is observed each year in April, generally the second full week
\nLibrary Closure<\/strong>
\nThe Library will close at 1:00 pm on Friday April 22nd in observance of Good Friday and will be closed Saturday April 23rd for the Easter Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout this closure.<\/p>\n
