Now I run into it a lot. The definition of Nano simply put is, “Very small.” Apple uses the word to describe their iPods. I also ran into the word Nanopod in the current book I’m reading, “Hell’s Corner.” In this case it’s something used to infect humans which causes changes to their body. I haven’t found out yet what it turns them into but it doesn’t sound good.
“Hell’s Corner,” by David Baldacci, is the book I started last fall. I think I’ve already mentioned that I only read books while sitting on the deck on a warm day and indulging in my bad habits. For some reason my brain freezes up in cold weather and I can’t concentrate while reading. Seeing as we’ve had very few warm days this spring, I’ve gotten very little reading done. One good thing about the book is that I can pick it back up easily later and still know what’s gone on before.
It’s a very good book.
Recently I’ve also learned about Nano Transceivers that turn a computer mouse into a truly wireless device. No wired receiver sitting on my desk taking up space anymore. I got a Microsoft 4000 wireless mouse delivered Wednesday that comes with a single Duracell battery which they claim last 10 months. I’m sure that depends on whether I develop a habit of shutting it off every night. When’s the last time you got a Duracell battery packed with something you bought. They’re usually those cheap half-life batteries made in China.

* * *

We still have an ongoing problem with our daily paper. One of them is the shrinking content and the other, trying to get them to deliver our paper on the side porch. The best paper delivery to our house was done by a husband and wife team and we’d find our paper everyday on the side porch just like clockwork. Of course we always sent them a tip and they always gave us a thank-you card with our next newspaper. They retired last fall and it hasn’t been the same since.
We always know when the delivery person is new when the paper ends up on the front porch or in the flower bed. We don’t really use that entrance a lot. The young woman that followed the couple started delivering just before Christmas and for the first time since I can remember, gave us her home address. Usually we’re not privilege to that information. So we took the bait and sent her a Christmas card with money.
She stopped coming, she was just earning extra money for Christmas.
Our delivery people have changed twice in the last month so we’ll have to make the decision whether to keep calling them every two weeks with the same old complaint or just plain cancel our subscription.
That would be easy because the same information in the printed paper is also available online.
One last note, our Sunday paper comes with the comics and the USA Weekend magazine. I’m a big fan of the comics only they used to be called the funnies. I started this past Sunday by reading what little interested me in the magazine and I had a Deja vu moment. Then I read the comics and knew it was all too familiar. Come to find out we got the same comics and magazine two weeks in a row.

* * *

A few thoughts:
Lord Obama sent CIA agents over to Libya to find out who the rebels are that are fighting against Gadhafi. Is this the same organization that can’t find Osama bin Laden?
If electric cars are charged up by coal fired energy plants, is that still green?
50% of the wage earners pay 100% of the Federal income taxes.
Alright all you politicians in Washington D.C., which is it, an unsustainable debt leading to an economic collapse of the Nation or Armageddon if we cap the debt ceiling? Sounds like a “Catch 22” to me; damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Religion began when man first ask that age old question, what the hell am I doing here?
85% of all prescriptions written for Oxycontin are for the elderly in Florida. It’s a powerful and addictive pain drug with adverse side effects and sounds like it’s worse for them than Marijuana. Why not let them light up instead?
Until the next time . . .

[9

post-22188","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
