Many people in St. Johns exemplify this maxim.
Clinton County Arts Council (CCAC) recognized a few of their many, many volunteers on Sunday, May 1.

Arline Minsky on the left and Jenny McCampbel

Arline Minsky was recognized at the Arts Gallery as she stepped down from the CCAC board after serving as president for almost six years. She saw the Arts Council through some difficult times: two necessarily quick moves of the Gallery in 2007 and 2010 and the need to find a new Gallery Director in 2007 shortly after the move. She made good choices of finding store fronts in the second block of Clinton for each move and of offering Michael Muehlenbeck the directorship.
Due to Michael’s skills and talents in retail sales and artistry and the good locations, sales of the locally-created artwork have gone up every year.
While nobody can fill Arline’s shoes, Jenny McCampbell has accepted the position of the president of the board, after serving as treasurer. Mary Faloon has been named the new vice- president of the board as Paul Matheson stepped down; Charlotte Voisin is now the treasurer and Bev Davis is continuing as secretary. The board is pleased to have its full complement of 12 members once again.

Railroad Crew: Jim Ackerman, Ken Simpson, Doug Weir, Tom Hutton, Gary McCampbell, Brett Cheeseman and Pat Harden. Missing from the picture are: Ken Osentoski, Travis Tucker, John Becker and Dave Lehnen.
Another branch of CCAC is the Clinton Northern Railway Museum, located at the Depot, 107 E. Railroad Street. Also on May 1, the Railroad Crew was recognized at the Depot for all the hard work this hardy band of volunteers does to restore the historic rail cars and to re-create a fascinating model train layout for all to enjoy.
The Clinton County Arts Council is always looking for volunteers of all kinds. People interested should stop down to visit the Gallery at 215 N. Clinton, any Tuesday – Friday, 10:00 – 5:30, or Saturday, 10:00 – 2:00, or call the gallery at 989.224.2429.
Those interested in the railroad museum should stop by the Depot on Thursday mornings or Sunday afternoons between 1:00 – 3:00, or call Gary McCampbell at 989.224.6134.
CCAC is privileged to have such wonderful volunteers. CCAC is also fortunate to receive a portion of their budget through grant funds from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.

[9

post-22571","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
