Prevent Summer Set-Back and more<\/strong>
\nFor students, summer is a time for fun and play. It is also when children’s learning skills could slide. We hope you will support summer reading to kids so they are on track when returning to school in the fall. We encourage you to travel our “One World Many Stories” this summer. There are a few openings in each of our story-time programs.
\nCheck our web-site or the City Access Channel for dates and times or call the library for more information. We are collecting exciting stories from around the world to share with kids, preparing crafts, reading logs, guessing contests, and getting prizes ready.
\nBooks, DVD’s, and Audio Books with stories from around the world will be on display for you to check out, read or listen to and enter on reading logs to be turned in for prizes. Summer is an ideal time for families to provide the time, learning experiences and practice to reinforce learning! We hope to see you often this summer.
\nAdult Summer Reading Program<\/strong>
\nThe Adult Summer Reading Program returns this year with Novel Destinations. Starting June 6th adults 18 and over can fill out a simple review form for each book they read, and be entered for a chance to win great prizes from local businesses. One winner will be drawn each week during the program’s 8-week run, and at the end of July a grand prize winner will receive 4 tickets to a Lansing Lugnuts baseball game! Stop by the library starting June 6th to register and see the list of available prizes!
\nJr. Readers<\/strong>
\nRegistration for the Monday June 27 program from 6:30-7:30 opens Monday May 23rd. Youth ages 7-9 can pick up a copy of the book Weird Stories from the Lonesome Caf\u00e9 by Judy Cox at the Library desk. Game, craft, book discussion and menu of food choices from around the world are all part of this summer adventure.
\nLibrary Closures<\/strong>
\nThe Library will be Saturday May 28th and Monday May 30th in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday. The drop box on the Library porch will be available for returns throughout this closure.<\/p>\n
